Going into the season, the sky was the limit for Kentucky. With the return of Oscar Tshiebwe, many were surprised when they struggled heavily out of the gate. Kentucky found its stride in the middle of the season but has struggled again recently. The Wildcats have lost four of their last nine, with two of those losses coming against Vanderbilt.
Providence somehow comes into the tournament in even worse shape. The Friars have lost three straight and four of their last five. Not only has their offense been inconsistent, but their defense has been outright terrible. They have given up 83 points per game during their losing streak.
Providence has shown the ability to beat anybody this season with wins over Marquette, UConn, and Creighton. Unfortunately, all those wins seem like ages ago. This defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed and will find it even tougher with Oscar Tshiebwe on the other side. Expect Kentucky to cover the spread relatively easily.
