Keke Coutee Fantasy Value Boosted by Brandin Cooks Injury Update

The Houston Texans have been losing offensive weapons left and right, which certainly makes the matchup against a tough Chicago Bears defense even more difficult. With the morning Brandin Cooks injury update, it looks like they could be down another weapon, which improves the fantasy value for Keke Coutee.

More on #Texans–#Bears: Houston WR Brandin Cooks, dealing with foot and neck issues, is not expected to play today, source said. Barring a significant late improvement, they’ll be down a weapon. https://t.co/MU5ogqAErp

Brandin Cooks Injury Update

The Texans lost top wide receiver Will Fuller to a season-ending suspension a little over a week ago. This alone was a massive hit to the receiving corps, as he was the one true field stretcher they had at outside receiver. Now, it appears Cooks will be out for this game, leading to no shortage of questions about this receiving corps.

On top of the wide receiver issue, running back David Johnson will also be out for this game, making Duke Johnson the starter and majority leader in the backfield. David Johnson is also a contributor in the receiving game, meaning Duke Johnson will need to step up in a variety of ways.

Keke Coutee Fantasy Outlook

Coutee is now the default veteran in the wide receiver room, despite only being in his third NFL season. In an expanded role last week, Coutee exploded for 179 yards and a touchdown. He saw nine targets in the game, but could easily see double-digit targets in this game.

Coutee mainly operates as a slot wide receiver, so the news of slot cornerback Buster Skrine being out for Chicago raises Coutee’s ceiling in this matchup, and he will be relied upon heavily.
