    Keegan Murray Draft Profile

    Strengths

Keegan Murray had a stellar two-year career at Iowa that saw him grow and improve in many ways. As a defender, he is extremely versatile and has the ability to match up with both wing players on the perimeter and bigs down low. Murray’s size might even allow teams to play him as a small-ball center. He has an incredible feel for the game, great instincts and a superb basketball IQ. While these attributes certainly help him on the defensive end, they also help Murray to be a crisp and efficient scorer. He is capable of creating and knocking down shots from anywhere on the floor. He may not be the fastest player, but his intangibles help him to get past defenders on his way to the basket and find creative ways to finish at the rim.

    Weaknesses

Murray was able to consistently make up for his lack of pure athleticism in college. That will be much more difficult to do at the NBA level. Given that he wasn’t even a ranked recruit coming out of high school, Murray also lacks much experience playing against top-tier competition. Making the transition to the professional ranks could lead to some real growing pains. Offensively, Murray will need to improve as a scorer inside, particularly when facing opposing teams with a lot of length in the frontcourt. As an outside shooter, he also has plenty of room for improvement.
