Kansas vs Providence Prediction | March Madness Sweet 16 Picks

The pattern of betting action on Providence thus far in the NCAA Tournament has been so interesting to watch play out. The whole world was against the Friars in the First Round against a 13-seed. Then, oddsmakers basically set the exact same line for the Second Round game against 12-seed Richmond. After winning that game by 28 points, the public is suddenly willing to back Providence as an underdog against a loaded Kansas team. Go figure!

While wins over South Dakota State and Richmond cannot be dismissed entirely, the Friars are set for a steep uptick in competition against Kansas. In terms of experience, this Jayhawks team has more of it than any in recent memory.

Providence will be hard-pressed to come up with a defensive answer for Jayhawks star guard Ochai Agbaji. He actually finished below his 19.3 points per game average in both contests last weekend. The fact that KU still rolled to victory in both shows just how deep and versatile Bill Self’s team is. KenPom ranks Kansas sixth in adjusted offensive efficiency. The Jayhawks have averaged 119.5 points per 100 possessions on the season.

Compared to their first weekend opponents, Providence is going to be in for a much tougher personnel matchup in the post area as well. While the Friars’ bigs had a physicality advantage last weekend, that certainly won’t be the case against Kansas’ Jalen Wilson and David McCormick. It’s fair for bettors to question whether Ed Cooley even has enough frontcourt depth to match up with KU’s bigs for a full 40 minutes.

Our college basketball betting Kansas vs Providence prediction tonight will be Kansas -7.5 at BetUS

For what it’s worth, the ESPN Matchup Predictor gives Kansas a 79.2% chance to win.
