    New York Jets Preview

Wins have been few and far between for the Jets in recent years. For the first time in nearly two years, the Jets won in the month of October this past Sunday. In what was easily the best game of rookie quarterback Zach Wilson’s young career, the Jets made just enough plays to knock off an injury-riddled Tennessee Titans squad. Wilson finished with nearly 300 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns. Fellow rookie Michael Carter also scored a rushing TD. The return of Jamison Crowder proved to be much-needed for the Jets’ passing game. Both he and Corey Davis had stellar stat lines.

The Jets pass rush pressured Ryan Tannehill on 21 of his 56 dropbacks (37.5% pressure rate). Four different Jets defenders generated 6+ pressures, tied for most in a game by any defense since 2016.

While the offense certainly showed more life in Week 4 than it has all season, the real story was the Jets’ defense. Sure, they got a bit of a reprieve in the fact that the Titans were without their top two wideouts. That being said, New York was also without star safety Marcus Maye. The defense still showed up, however, to the tune of seven total sacks. Brothers Quinnen and Quincy Williams combined for three sacks and 16 tackles between them. C.J. Mosley also had 10 tackles and a sack. The Jets will need to continue hanging their hats on the defense to cover this week as NFL betting underdogs.

    Atlanta Falcons Preview

Even with a new coaching staff in place, the Falcons still can’t seem to get out of their own way. The NFL franchise notorious for choking did just that in Week 4, squandering a fourth-quarter lead and losing to the Washington Football Team. Statistically, Matt Ryan had a great day under center with 283 yards passing and four scores. However, he and coach Arthur Smith combined for some awful game management down the stretch. When teams sit on a lead and play conservatively, bad things tend to happen.

On the positive side, the Falcons are simply the latest team to tear apart what was thought to be a strong Washington defense. Cordarrelle Patterson is the talk of the fantasy football world after amassing over 100 total yards and scoring three touchdowns last week. Both Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts joined him with 50+ yards receiving. How Atlanta managed to blow the game based on the slew of impressive performances is almost impossible to fathom. Nonetheless, the Falcons are still short NFL betting favorites ahead of their Week 5 matchup across the pond. However, this could change quickly, due to Ridley not making the trip.
