Jaxon Smith-Njigba Draft Profile

Strengths

Jaxon Smith-Njigba had most of his 2022 season taken away due to injury, but his 2021 campaign and overall athleticism have kept him high on the draft boards. Smith-Njigba is a pure possession receiver that can come down with contested catches while also losing his defender in the process with his sharp route-running skills. He isn’t blazing fast, but he is very quick, which is shown by his NFL Combine results where he topped wide receivers in the 20-yard shuttle and 3-cone drills. Smith-Njigba also has tremendous tracking abilities and soft hands that make up for it.

Weaknesses

For how athletic Smith-Njigba is, he lacks that top-end speed to leave defenders in the dust and create proper separation on certain routes. He isn’t very versatile and will be primarily used from the slot — something that may turn teams away from him when it comes down to it. On top of all of this, most of his production came in just one season which was followed by an injury-riddled 2022 campaign.
