With the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars draft Trevor Lawrence, quarterback out of Clemson. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Lawrence has had the Jaguars playbooks for awhile (not illegal, somehow) and he is ready to get started on the NFL journey he appears more than ready for.

Trevor Lawrence Draft Profile
Strengths
What is there to say about Trevor Lawrence that we didn’t find out his freshman year? Lawrence has tremendous arm strength. He also sees the field like and NFL quarterback already, picking apart the defense with ease. Lawrence looks calm in the pocket, manipulating it when need be. One underrated skill of his may be his legs, since he is more than capable of outrunning linebackers.
Weaknesses
As with any quarterback who has seen only success essentially, Lawrence doesn’t like to give up on plays. Instead of throwing it away, he is more willing to extend the play and sometimes force bad throws. Lawrence also has the tendency of getting locked onto his first read. Given the skill around him and playing in the ACC, he knew his players would eventually win their matchups. This won’t work in Jacksonville.

What to Expect From Trevor Lawrence in 2021
Trevor Lawrence was locked into this first overall draft pick long before we knew which team would even have the pick. There’s a good reason for that that, and it’s because he was the clear best quarterback in the country and the definition of NFL ready. He becomes the Day 1 starter of the Urban Meyer-led squad, which is expected to look at bit different than past Jaguars teams, and this transformation begins with the top draft pick.
Lawrence has had the Jaguars playbook for some time now, so expect him to look like a solid rookie quarterback. With D.J. Chark and Marvin Jones highlighting the receiving corps, the rookie also has some weapons at this disposal. The Jaguars may be drafting him another young weapon before the weekend finishes as well.
