Following a big knockout win on Saturday over Bobby Green, Islam Makhachev looks in line to challenge for the UFC Lightweight Title next. Current champion Charles Oliveira will face Justin Gaethje first, then Islam would challenge for the championship. However, no matter who wins the next title fight, the UFC betting odds at BetOnline Sportsbook is calling Islam Makhachev the heavy favorite to win.

Islam Makhachev Opens as Heavy to Beat Charles Oliveira or Justin Gaethje

How many times did we hear on Saturday that Islam Makhachev is the next Khabib Nurmagomedov? Too many. It doesn’t help that Islam is friends with and coached by Khabib. However, they are not the same person, yet the sportsbooks seem to think so.

Following last Saturday’s fight, BetOnline Sportsbook as posted odds for Islam’s next fight, and he is a heavy favorite in the UFC betting odds over both Oliveira and Gaethje.

Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev

Oliveira: (+345) | Makhachev: (-415)

Justin Gaethje vs Islam Makhachev

Gaethje: (+450) | Makhachev: (-600)

If you like the odds on the current Lightweight Champion or the next Champion, I would place your bet soon.

This looks to be another case of Oliveira getting overlooked for some unknown reason. He is not only a champion, but he is performing like one of the best fighters in the business. Yet, he is not viewed this way.

However, before any fight with Makhachev can take place, we will need to see Charles Oliveira vs Justin Gaethje at UFC 274, which is scheduled for May 7th. After that, we can start doing the analysis of the matchup against Islam, and I can guarantee the UFC odds will be quite a bit closer.

I don’t want the job creating betting lines. However, these odds definitely off. Click here if you’re wanting to exploit these odds.
