“With the 29th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select Isaiah Wilson, Tackle, Georgia.”

Those words indicate one of the biggest busts in NFL history. Wilson was drafted to replace right tackle, Jack Conklin, who signed with the Cleveland Browns in the 2019 offseason.

Isaiah Wilson Draft Bust

Wilson was a surprise pick by the Titans, as many felt there were better choices available. He was a good tackle, but had technique issues. Wilson officially measured in at 6’6” and weighed 350 pounds. He also was the second-biggest prospect at the combine.

Isaiah Wilson signed his rookie contract for $11.57 million with a $5.974 million signing bonus.

Three days before the season began, he was arrested and charged with a DUI. There were also reports of Wilson attending an off-campus party at Tennessee State University. The party was stopped by police. Fearing of being arrested once again, he jumped from a second-floor balcony.

Eventually, Wilson was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list twice during the season. Titans’ GM Jon Robinson said that he and Wilson had not been in contact since December. Robinson also said ““What we want is guys that love ball, guys that want to be pro football players — not just guys that put ‘pro football player’ as their hashtag on their Instagram or their Snapchat or their Twitter.”

Wilson only recorded four snaps for the Titans in the 2020 season. The Titans’ organization is clearly unhappy with Wilson. It also seems that Wilson is done with the Titans.

Isaiah Wilson Tweet

Earlier tonight, Isaiah Wilson posted a tweet that said “I’m done with football as a Titan… No further comments.”

It seems that his time in Nashville will be coming to an end, presumably being released or quitting from the team. Wilson had loads of talent but struggled with off-the-field issues. There is absolutely no room for non-football-related issues in the NFL.
