Makhachev vs Volkanovski Fight Preview:

He last fought in October, last year, when he beat Charles Oliveira via submission and won the vacant UFC lightweight title.  Makhachev has rag-dolled every opponent he has faced in his career. He has shown his sneaky high-level kickboxing, which can force any opponent to quit the game. Makhachev will certainly climb up to the No. 1 Pound-for-Pound spot with a victory, proving once again that he is the best 155-pounder in the world.

On the other hand, the UFC featherweight champion and No. 1 Men’s Pound-for Pound, Australian current featherweight champion, Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski will be defending his title against the newly crowned UFC lightweight champion in a five-round robin. Volkanovski will enter the game with a 22-fight win streak and will be hoping to become just the fifth player in UFC history to hold championships in two weight classes. In his spectacular career, he won against the likes of Max Holloway (x3), Brian Ortega, and Chan Sung Jung.

He turned pro in 2012 and joined the UFC in 2016, Volkanovski has defended the belt four times. He last fought against former champion Holloway in July, last year, extending his record against him 3-0.

Talking about his game, what makes Volkanovski dangerous is his speed, a manner in which he dissects his opponents, either with leg kicks, faints, or quick boxing competitions.

That said, with reputations, records, and potential G.O.A.T status at stake, UFC 284’s main event is surely one for the ages.

Apart from this highly anticipated match, some other anticipated fights are also scheduled to take place. In the co-main event, No. 2 ranked Yair Rodriguez will fight against No. 5 ranked Josh Emmett for the interim title. In another fight on the main card, Dana White will face Randy Brown while Justin Tafa will face Parker Portee at heavyweight.

Light heavyweight Jimmy Crute will be making his return against Alonzo Menifield, in the main card opener. UFC light heavyweight Tyson Pedro will meet Modestas Bukauskas in the preliminary round.
