Edgerrin Cooper Scouting Report

Strengths

In the best way possible, Edgerrin Cooper is a maniac on the field. He has the build to be a starting NFL linebacker, and he flies around on every play. Cooper trusts his eyes, making quick reads, deciphering screens and containing mobile quarterbacks. He can drop into coverage as well as blitz effectively. And when it comes time to meet in the hole, Cooper lays the wood.

Weaknesses

Cooper can get fooled by motion pre-snap. And while he does fly around and hit hard, he can get a bit out of control and be inconsistent as an open-field tackler. All of his weaknesses are very coachable, making him a great linebacker prospect.

What to Expect From Edgerrin Cooper in 2024

Edgerrin Cooper flies around the field to make plays. So, given his draft position, he expects to be a Day 1 starter for the Packers, and you can expect to hear his name called often. Cooper needs to control himself a bit, which will come with solid coaching, but there is no reason to believe he won’t become a solid contributor rather quickly. Green Bay needed an off-ball linebacker in the worst way, but they landed arguably the best one in the draft.
