The marquee late afternoon game on the Week 5 NFL betting slate pits a pair of NFC East Division rivals against one another. Fresh off of their first win of the season, the New York Giants will look to shock the football world for the second straight week when they travel to Jerry’s World to take on the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys have been sharp through four games and actually enter Week 5 as the only unbeaten team against the spread (ATS). The NFL betting odds have declared the home team a full touchdown favorite in advance of this Giants vs Cowboys showdown.

The following Giants vs Cowboys NFL betting preview will give you the current odds, betting trends and picks for the Week 5 matchup, along with a stream link to watch games all season long.

    New York Giants Preview

The Giants were more than a touchdown NFL betting underdog for their Week 4 road game against the New Orleans Saints. Trailing 21-10 late in the fourth quarter, Daniel Jones led New York on two scoring drives to tie the game and force overtime. The Saints’ offense never saw the football in the extra period. After a winning coin toss call for the ages by Jabrill Peppers, the Giants went 75 yards. Saquon Barkley capped the drive with the game-winning touchdown. For Jones, Week 4 was a massive statement game. Despite being without two of his top receivers in Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton, Jones threw for over 400 yards and a pair of scores. No matter what the media talking heads want to say, the Giants have a legit starting QB.

Last week also proved to be a huge game for Barkley. He finished with over 120 total yards and two touchdowns and proved that he is fully back from last year’s season-ending knee injury. Kenny Golladay had over 100 yards receiving and both rookie Kadarius Toney and veteran John Ross stepped up in the absence of Shepard and Slayton. Perhaps the most noteworthy stat of all from the victory concerns the much-maligned Giants offensive line. Against the Saints, they showed up in a big way. Jones was never sacked in the win. While New York’s defense has not looked as sharp as it did last season, they have certainly played better in each of the last two weeks.

    Dallas Cowboys Preview

Aside from the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2, no opposing defense has yet to offer much resistance to the loaded Cowboys offense. Dallas covered the NFL betting spread as favorites and won their third straight game in Week 4, taking home the victory in a shootout affair with the previously unbeaten Carolina Panthers. Dak Prescott may have had four touchdown passes, but it was the Cowboys’ backfield that stole the show once again. Ezekiel Elliott averaged over seven yards per carry on his way to 143 rushing yards and a score. Not to be outdone, Tony Pollard also totaled 6.7 yards per carry. The two combined to bludgeon the respectable Carolina defense for over 200 yards on the ground.

While the offense has been humming on a weekly basis, one cannot overlook what the Cowboys’ defense has been able to do thus far either. Dan Quinn may not be a good head coach, but he sure knows how to be a defensive coordinator. The unit is still lacking in the way of pure talent, but Quinn has clearly had a game plan to improve what was the NFL’s worst defense from a year ago. Through four games, Dallas ranks tenth in adjusted defensive efficiency, per Football Outsiders. The Cowboys also came away with two interceptions last week and are tied with the Buffalo Bills for the best turnover margin in football at +7.
