The NASCAR Cup Series finishes up its three-race stretch of short tracks. Bristol Motor Speedway will be covered in dirt for the Cup Series’ only race on dirt this year — the Food City Dirt Race. For the first time in years, NASCAR will have a race on Easter Sunday. Even better is that it will take place under the lights. The drivers will have some practice on the dirt before the race (hopefully), but these are some drivers you need and don’t need for your DraftKings NASCAR DFS picks this Sunday.

DraftKings NASCAR DFS Overview

In this DraftKings NASCAR DFS picks column, we will be using DraftKings prices and scoring. Their scoring includes the following:

  • .25 points for leading a lap
  • .45 points for the fastest laps
  • Add/subtract a half-point based on the difference in a driver’s finishing position relative to their starting position
  • Points based on where the driver finishes

Food City Dirt Race Drivers to Consider | DraftKings NASCAR DFS Picks

Kyle Larson or Christopher Bell ($11,200 or $10,800)

Last year I told you to take both of these drivers in your DFS lineups. That was a mistake as they both were taken out in the same wreck. This year smarten up and take only one of them just in case they do end up crashing out this year. These two are the favorites and have the highest prices due to their dirt history. One of them needs to be in your DraftKings DFS lineup this year.

Daniel Suarez ($8,300)

Last year Daniel Suarez surprised the field by leading the most laps and finishing fourth in the race. This year he has to be in your lineup due to this. Suarez is still on the cheap side for the race and he will help you get points. Expect more of the same this year with the 99. Put Suarez in your DraftKings DFS lineups.

Bubba Wallace ($7,500)

The driver of the 23 had a good run until about 50 to go when it fell apart last year. The growing pains of the new team got them. Now they have a year under their belt and everything should be good. Wallace has won on dirt before in the Truck Series. Wallace is used to being upfront on the dirt and as long as he doesn’t have problems under the hood he should be fine. Put the 23 in your DraftKings DFS lineups.

Food City Dirt Race Drivers to Avoid | DraftKings NASCAR DFS Picks

Ross Chastain ($8,500)

Ross Chastain did not have a good race last year on the dirt. Mr. “Dirt is For Farming” probably wishes that NASCAR kept it that way as he finished 35th in the inaugural race last year. Expect more of the same this year for the 1 car and avoid him in your DraftKings NASCAR DFS.

Cole Custer ($5,900)

Like Ross, Cole Custer did not have fun playing in the dirt. Last year he finished 24th one lap down in the inaugural race. THe 41 has not done much this season either as he has been pretty quiet. Custer is on the avoid list this week for your DraftKings NASCAR DFS.

Justin Allgaier ($5,800)

This is a case of being cautious when it comes to this driver. Justin Allgaier in the 77 is a question mark this week. We don’t know what Allgaier can do behind the wheel on dirt and that should make people question if they put him in or not. Be cautious in your NASCAR DraftKings DFS, do your research on the 77 this week if you want him in.
