It is finally time for some more FCS football! In our weekly power rankings, Weber State held on to the top spot. However, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and North Dakota are right on their tails. On top of the excitement building for the postseason, the FCS Playoff Committee decided to make a shocking announcement out of the blue yesterday.

FCS Playoff Committee Shockingly Reveals Top-10 Rankings

Yesterday, during a Kentucky versus Mississippi State baseball game that was showing on ESPNU, the Committee released their top ten, if the playoffs were to start today. This decision came out of the blue and kind of shocked the FCS Landscape. Coming in at number one was James Madison. JMU has only played four games this year and had to postpone games because of positive COVID tests among the players. It was believed by many that North Dakota State was going to be the favorite heading into the postseason.

Also, if you look at the rankings below, you can see that the Committee only has only three MVFC teams in the postseason. Many thought it could be as high as four or five. It’s going to be very interesting to see how the committee handles these issues going forward.

So, let’s take a look at the three best games, along with a betting guide for each.

Robert Morris at (8) Kennesaw State

Date: Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 | Time: 1:00 PM ET
Coverage: ESPN+

Robert Morris vs Kennesaw State Betting

Spread: RMU +19 (-110) | KST -19 (-110)
Moneyline: RMU (+650) | KST (-1100)
Total: 51.5 — Over (-110) | Under (-110)

On paper this should be a cake-walk for Kennesaw State. They have one of the best, if not the best, running attack in the FCS. However, Jonathan Murphy and Tommy Bryant can be stopped by a physical, attacking defense. On the other sideline, Robert Morris is looking to get their first win of the spring season on Saturday. Robert Morris has been hounded by health problems all year, and they are a young team. I like Kennesaw State to win this one, but it’ll be close throughout.

Prediction: (8) Kennesaw State 31, Robert Morris 27 (RMU +19, Over 51.5)

ETSU at (10) VMI

Date: Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 | Time: 1:30 PM ET
Coverage: ESPN+
Location: Alumni Memorial Field — Lexington, Virginia

ETSU vs VMI Betting

Spread: ETSU +2.5 (-110) | VMI -2.5 (-110)
Moneyline: ETSU (+115) | VMI (-135)
Total: 47.5 — Over (-110) | Under (-110)

VMI is off to the best start in program history. The 5-0 Keydets are flourishing in Georgia. The Keydets use a bit of a two-quarterback rotation, with signal-callers Reece Udinski and Seth Morgan. On the ground, running back Korey Bridy is a big play threat on every down, so Robert Morris will have to be keying on him.

As for ETSU, they are 3-1 heading into this game, with a real chance to upset the Keydets. Currently they are sitting tied for last place in the Big South. However, they have had multiple games postponed, so there’s still a true belief in the ETSU program.

Prediction: VMI 27, ETSU 16 (VMI -2.5, Under)

Eastern Washington at UC Davis

Date: Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 | Time: 4:00 PM ET
Coverage: CW31/PlutoTV
Location: UC Davis Health Stadium — Davis, CA

Eastern Washington vs UC Davis Betting

Spread: EWU +2 (-110) | UC Davis -2 (-110)
Moneyline: EWU (+110) | UC Davis (-130)
Total: 67.5 — Over (-110) | Under (-110)

This game will have real FCS postseason implications. Whoever wins here will likely get a better shot at making the post-season. EWU has a high flying attack, that produced NFL wide receiver Cooper Kupp. However, the Eagles will have to play a great game if they hope to beat UC Davis.

UC Davis is another team on the rise in the FCS. They are in second place Big Sky Conference with Weber State. Their offense mostly uses and power running scheme. Overall, this should be a great game for FCS Spring Football betting!
