When it comes to fantasy football streamers, the defense/special teams position is always one to monitor. In fact, many owners opt to intentionally stream the position all season long, playing positive matchups over drafting a highly-regarded unit. For those looking to do just that starting in Week 8, this article will have some solid options for you. Don’t forget there are only two teams on a bye this week (BAL and LV) compared to six last week, making a streaming option that much more appealing but also less stressful than last week.

Read on for three D/ST fantasy football streamers that are worth consideration for Week 8.

Defenses must be owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues to be included in the Week 8 fantasy football D/ST streamers column. All ownerships for players will be provided and will reflect that of Wednesday morning, once waivers are processed.

Week 8 Fantasy Football D/ST Streamers

Washington Football Team at DEN (35.8%)

Washington is probably the most over-hyped defensive unit heading into this season, as they’ve been unable to stop virtually any team, but they have an enticing matchup against the poor Broncos offense. It’s very possible the Broncos depend on the run game and shy away from putting the ball in Teddy Bridgewater’s hands much, but Washington has some good talent on defense that can make some plays if needed. They’ll likely generate some sacks and possibly a few turnovers but, most of all, they should be able to keep the game low-scoring, for the most part.

Atlanta Falcons vs. CAR (20.1%)

The Atlanta Falcons are certainly not an enticing streaming option for most fantasy managers, but they have a chance to return solid value facing the Panthers. Carolina’s offense has looked horrible the last four games and Sam Darnold was even benched towards the end of last game for P.J. Walker. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said Darnold is still their guy, which is good news for fantasy managers looking to stream the Falcons, because they are bound to force at least two turnovers. Atlanta won’t generate sacks or likely keep the score low but the turnovers will be there. Opposing defenses facing the Panthers have scored an average of 7.7 fantasy points per game thus far.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. NE (4.0%)

The Los Angeles Chargers’ defensive unit can be tough to stream or roster in general, but against a rookie quarterback in Mac Jones, I like the upside here. The Patriots did just absolutely dominate the Jets, scoring 54 points, but the Chargers are not the Jets. There’s a worry that the Chargers could take a substantial lead early, especially after their tough loss to the Ravens before the bye, which will force Jones and company to throw the ball rather than stick to the normal run-heavy game plan. This won’t be a top fantasy football streamers option, but considering they’re rostered in less than five percent of all ESPN leagues, it’s a solid option for deeper formats.
