Fantasy Football Week 5 TE Streamers
Jake Ferguson Fantasy Outlook (47.3%)
We knew the Dallas Cowboys were going to utilize the tight end position, and someone would emerge as a fantasy-relevant player. Through one month of the season, it’s been the Jake Ferguson fantasy football value that has been the highest, as the former Wisconsin Badger’s well-rounded skillset has presented him the most opportunities.
Ferguson has seen seven targets in three of his four games this season. This type of usage for a tight end is not something that grows on trees, so it is special when you can find it. The usage Ferguson has seen led to his best game of the season last week, catching seven passes for 77 yards.
Jake Ferguson is the TE8 this season in PPR scoring, and he is among the top fantasy football Week 5 TE streamers. Pick him up for this week and beyond.
Logan Thomas Fantasy Outlook (7.7%)
The Washington Commanders offense wants to utilize the tight end, and Logan Thomas has the position locked down when he is healthy. Right now, he’s healthy. He also gets to play the Chicago Bears in a matchup that has his quarterback, Sam Howell, as a fantasy football streamer this week as well.
The Bears rank dead last in sacks, at 0.5 per game. This means multiple things. First off, the Commanders shouldn’t need to have Thomas chip before running a route, leading to more opportunities for him. Second, Washington should be able to move the ball, and Thomas’ best work comes in the red zone. He should be the first option on passing plays near the goal line more often than not, meaning his touchdown upside is high this week. That’s why he is high in our rankings for fantasy football Week 5 TE streamers as well.
Jonnu Smith Fantasy Outlook (5%)
Don’t look now, but Jonnu Smith appears the fantasy tight end to own in Atlanta. He was featured in multiple articles for us last week, and I’ve been hyping him up on our YouTube a ton, so hopefully you already own him. If not, then he should be among your top pickup options to play at TE this week.
It’s no secret that the Atlanta Falcons want to run the ball. That is why Jonnu Smith’s role is so safe. He is clearly a better blocker than Kyle Pitts, meaning he needs to be on the field. However, the Falcons can’t only run it when he is out there, as that would be too telling. What many may not have projected is how much Atlanta would use Smith on these passing plays.
They traded for him, they like him, and they are even calling designed plays for him. All of this means the recent Jonnu Smith fantasy production isn’t a fluke. He’s seen 15 targets over the past three games, and this trend should continue.
