Fantasy Football Week 5 Defense Streamers

Denver Broncos (50.5%)

Ownership of the Broncos’ D/ST spiked overnight from Tuesday into Wednesday and for good reason. However, Denver remains available in roughly half of ESPN leagues just ready and waiting to be a fantasy football Week 5 streamers play. The Broncos looked awesome on defense last week as they shut down Aaron Rodgers and the highly regarded New York Jets offense. On the season to date, this outfit ranks second in fantasy scoring at the position.

Along with the surprising positional ranking, the Broncos are set to go up against a bad Las Vegas Raiders outfit in Week 5. Divisional games can sometimes be tricky to predict, but nothing says this showdown will consist of much offense. Gardner Minshew is week-to-week as far as retaining the Raiders’ starting quarterback job. Las Vegas has shown no ability to run the football and who knows what Davante Adams’ availability will be like as trade rumors swirl.

Seattle Seahawks (41.6%)

Even after allowing Jared Goff to complete 100% of his passes and surrendering 42 points last week, the Seahawks still rank as D/ST 12 on the season to date. Seattle’s ability to get after opposing quarterbacks has been a big part of this. The Seahawks have recorded multiple team sacks in all four games and have notched at least three in three consecutive games coming in. A trio of sacks and a safety this past week helped secure a positive fantasy output despite all of the points allowed.

A healthy home matchup against the New York Giants makes the Seahawks’ case as a fantasy football Week 5 streamers option that much more compelling. To their credit, the Giants have looked improved over the last few weeks, particularly in the passing game. However, star rookie wideout, Malik Nabers, is questionable for Sunday at this time due to a concussion. That’s not good, nor is New York’s offensive line. Seattle’s defense should have its way in the trenches.

Washington Commanders (17.3%)

For those in need of an option further down the board, the upside that the Commanders’ defense has this week cannot be ignored. There’s no denying that on paper and the field, this defense isn’t that great. However, they have good coaching, led by head coach and defensive stalwart, Dan Quinn. What’s more, if Jayden Daniels and the offense keep controlling games as they have, this defense can get away with simply being average.

In Week 5, the Commanders will host the Cleveland Browns, whose offense has been anything but solid or explosive to date. Cleveland has allowed 19 sacks, the most in the NFL through four games. That stat is a big reason why opposing defenses have averaged over 10 fantasy points against the Browns to date. Cleveland’s offense is so bad that even the Maxx Crosby-less Raiders had a strong fantasy output against them last week. Look for the Commanders to do the same at home.
