Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 7 RBs

Start: Both Falcons RBs at Dolphins

Team Name: Cordarrelle Pounder with Cheese

With all of the byes and injuries at RB this week, it will be a stretch for a lot of teams to field two legit RBs and even more difficult to get a Flex as well. With a matchup on deck against the Miami Dolphins, who are giving up 29.5 PPR fantasy points per game (fppg) to opposing RBs, both Cordarrelle Patterson, who at this point is an every week starter at RB, and Mike Davis are sure-fire starts. Patterson is an RB1 this week while Davis is an RB2/Flex, as the Dolphins have already given up 675 yards rushing and 274 passing and nine total touchdowns on the year to opposing RBs. Start them both in this spot.

Start: Both Cardinals RBs vs. Texans

Team Name: Con(ner) Air

Another backfield where you can go for a couple of starting RBs is the Arizona Cardinals, with the Houston Texans coming up this week. Houston is giving up 25.5 fppg to opposing RBs and, with their implied team total of 32.5 points and as 17.5-point favorites, the Cardinals should have plenty of opportunity for running the ball this week. That makes both Chase Edmonds and James Conner starting options this week. Edmonds is an RB1 and Conner is more of an RB2/Flex, but both are firmly in play with the game setup and with the dearth of RB options this week.

Sit: Both Browns RBs vs Broncos

Team Name: Demetric System

The Browns are decimated by injuries right now, with Case Keenum making the start on Thursday for Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt out, and Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry questionable as well. Now, throw in a tough matchup against the Broncos, who are giving up only 17.1 fppg to opposing RBs. Then, throw in uncertainty over who will handle the bulk of the work between D’Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton in a game with one of the lowest Vegas totals of the week at 44 points, and you have a stay-away situation. If you used your waiver priority or your FAAB budget on Johnson or Felton, you are better off taking a wait-and-see approach for this week to see how the duties shake out.

Sit: Alex Collins vs. Saints

Team Name: Collin A Friend

With Chris Carson on IR, Alex Collins stepped in last week and put up 16.8 fantasy points with 101 yards rushing, a reception and a touchdown against the Steelers. This week, he has another tough matchup against the Saints, who are only allowing 20.5 fppg to opposing RBs. In addition to the matchup, Collins has both hip injury and a glute strain he is working through and the game is on Monday. On the plus side, this gives him another day to recover, but it also means that you won’t know for sure if he is active prior to setting your lineups on Sunday For all of these reasons, you are better off looking elsewhere this week for your RB2/Flex.
