Week 8 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em WR analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of Cincinnati Bengals’ Tee Higgins.
There are very few fantasy football wide receivers you can blindly trust this season. One of the few is Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but he is one of the many WRs who have a bye this week, leading to you needing to get a bit creative, especially in deeper leagues. Who can you trust and, more importantly, who won’t screw you over? Navigating the injuries and bye weeks can be a pain, but our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em WRs series is here to help you get a win despite the chaos that this week brings.
In this weekly Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article, we will be talking about the WR2/3 grey area, where you may have some tough decisions that will need to be made. Players like Ja’Marr Chase and Drake London will not be discussed. Yes, start them. You drafted them early for a reason, and it’s too early to move away from them! Instead, we are more concerned about the low-end WR2 or WR3 area where a player with a solid matchup should return value that is worth the start, and vice versa.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out my weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with me and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 8 WRs
Start: Tee Higgins Fantasy Outlook vs Jets
Zach Brunner’s Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings
It has been a slow burn for Tee Higgins’ fantasy owners, but he is finally a “start” in our Week 8 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em! With Joe Flacco commanding the offense, Higgins has totaled 18 targets, 158 yards, and a touchdown over the past two weeks. While those don’t compare to the targets Ja’Marr Chase saw last week, Higgins should be utilized in this offense against the Jets.
Start: Elic Ayomanor Fantasy Outlook at Colts
While the Colts rank in the middle of the league for most pass defense stats, they are dead last in fantasy points allowed to WRs (41.8). Yes, they are now worse than the Dallas Cowboys. So, don’t overthink this decision for your fantasy lineup. If Calvin Ridley plays, he could have a very nice day as well. However, he has been very inconsistent. That is why we are highlighting the consistent role of Elic Ayomanor. The rookie leads the team in targets this season (39), seeing at least five targets in all but one game. The Titans will likely be trailing in this game, so look for Ayomanor to see his typical target share, which should be fruitful this week.

Sit: Jaylen Waddle Fantasy Outlook at Falcons
All you have to do is watch this clip here, and you will understand why Jaylen Waddle is on this side of the Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em. Tua Tagovailoa didn’t throw the ball to Jaylen Waddle last week because he couldn’t see over his offensive line. Nice. It’s not Tua’s fault, though (could never be, just ask him). In theory, events like this would mean Waddle gets forced the ball early in this game. However, I would question if that matters.
The Falcons have been great against fantasy football WRs this season, surrendering the second-fewest average points to the position (25.2). More importantly, the edge rushers for the Falcons are both at least 6-5, so I’m afraid Tua won’t be able to see again this week. Additionally, the Falcons have been getting after passers this season, sporting the fifth-best sack percentage (8.77%).
Sit: Quentin Johnston Fantasy Outlook at Vikings
We know the Minnesota Vikings will blitz and bring the pressure on Thursday Night Football. As a result, Justin Herbert must get the ball out quickly, and that does not benefit Quentin Johnston. After his hot start, Johnston is a sell-high player, but that is just a side note.
Quentin Johnston has an average depth of target of 12.5, leading the Chargers’ top four WRs, per my Opportunity Index. So, if the ball has to get out quickly, the long-developing routes that Johnston is often tasked with are not getting the target. The Vikings are also the fifth-best against fantasy WRs (27.9 points), and they have a 9.04% sack rate as well (third in the NFL).
