Week 8 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em TE analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of New York Jets’ tight end Mason Taylor.
Entering the NFL season, there were few tight ends you felt were truly trustworthy for fantasy football. Brock Bowers, Trey McBride and George Kittle were three who stood out. However, the first two have a bye week while the latter put up a goose egg last week. As a result, you may need to stream the position to give yourself a fighting chance in Week 8. Luckily, our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em for Week 8 will help you answer some of the tough questions you will face.
We are not here to tell you to start Tyler Warren or Jake Ferguson. Yes, for the love of God, please do that. Instead, we will seek to answer some of the questions for players in that grey area, who you may be deciding whether you should start or sit them.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out my weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with me and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Start: Mason Taylor Fantasy Outlook at Bengals

Start: Pat Freiermuth Fantasy Outlook vs Packers
This season, the Packers are the second-worst against the fantasy TE position. The only reason they are not the worst is because the Steelers’ TE group scored four touchdowns against the Bengals last week, pushing them to that top spot. Despite playing only six games, no team has allowed more receptions to tight ends this year (50). Aaron Rodgers noted before the season how the Steelers could move Freiermuth around a bit, and he gives the offense a great receiving threat. We finally saw this on display in Week 7, and we can expect it again as Rodgers looks to become the fifth QB in NFL history to beat all 32 teams.

Sit: TJ Hockenson Fantasy Outlook vs Chargers
Again, TJ Hockenson is not a must-sit. However, his name value is higher than his actual fantasy value, and the matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers isn’t great. The Chargers have allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points per week to the position this season. They have allowed just 3.85 receptions per game to opposing TEs, which is very solid. Hockenson is part of the passing offense, so he should be able to go over that average. However, his ceiling is quite low against this defense, especially if he will have to help chip on Khalil Mack.
Sit: Mark Andrews Fantasy Outlook vs Bears
We will keep this one short and sweet. Yes, Lamar Jackson should be back, and the Chicago Bears do not scare you whatsoever. However, you can find a tight end who is more trustworthy than Mark Andrews. Per my Opportunity Index, Andrews ranks 24th for the position in targets per game and 18th in air yards. If you start him, you’re hoping for a touchdown. Unfortunately, that has happened just once this season, and this was the only time he has had a top-16 week.
