Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 5 QBs

Start: Tom Brady Fantasy Outlook vs. Falcons

After finally posting his first QB1 finish of the season last week, where he threw for 385 yards and three touchdowns (25.4 fantasy points), Tom Brady is set to make it two weeks in a row. Brady is 10-0 against the Atlanta Falcons in his career and averages 27.2 fantasy points per game (fppg) against them, and since he had been with the Buccaneers that jumps to 33.1 fppg. With his receiving corps rounding into form and the Falcons giving up 19.6 fppg to opposing QBs, Brady belongs in your lineup. He is a rock-solid start in our fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em article for Week 5.

Start: Derek Carr Fantasy Outlook vs. Chiefs

Coming off of his worst start of the season, Derek Carr has a matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, who have given up an average of 22.1 fppg to opposing QBs on the season. Despite his woeful 3-13 career record against the Chiefs, over his last four matchups against them, Carr has averaged 24.0 fppg. More than a few fantasy matchups will be determined during the Monday night game, which features the highest total (51) of the week.

Get Carr in your fantasy football lineup, as he will need to put together multiple scoring drives to keep up with the Chiefs.

Sit: Matthew Stafford Fantasy Outlook vs. Cowboys

After an incredible season where he won the Super Bowl, Matthew Stafford has had a slow start to the year. He has only finished as a QB1 once and has finished outside of QB2 range in each of his other three starts. This week, he draws a tough matchup against the Dallas Cowboys who have only given up an average of 13.0 fppg to opposing QBs and are tied for second in the league with 15 sacks.

In single QB leagues, Stafford is borderline droppable if there are better options out there, as next week he has the Carolina Panthers allowing 16.1 fppg to opposing QBs followed by a bye, then the San Francisco 49ers the following week 9.6 fppg.

Sit: Geno Smith Fantasy Outlook vs. Saints

Geno Smith is a top-10 fantasy football QB so far this season, averaging 19.0 fppg. Over the last two weeks, he has put up 19.9 and 31.7 fantasy points. It should be noted that last week’s stellar performance came against the Detroit Lions who have allowed 141 points, which is 26 points worse than the next team. This week, Smith draws a much tougher matchup against the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are only giving up 13.5 fppg to opposing QBs.
