Every single Tuesday during August, we will be giving a fantasy football draft ADP update. ADP stands for Average Draft Position. So, we will be looking at the five biggest risers and fallers in fantasy football drafts over the past week.
As the summer progresses, this data will become more accurate, relevant and important. For this first week, the data mostly reflects the shift from CPU autopicks to more humans doing fantasy football mock drafts. This means many quarterbacks, tight ends, kickers and defense will be trending down draftboards since most people would draft them later whereas many autopicks look to fill starting lineups before drafting bench players.
With this in mind, let’s take a look at the five biggest risers and fallers from the past week in the fantasy football draft ADP for PPR leagues.
5 Biggest Weekly Risers | Fantasy Football Draft ADP
After looking at the fantasy football draft data over the past week, these are the top five risers in the ADP.
- Rachaad White, RB, TB — Up 5.2 to 134.7, RB56 Overall
- Tyler Allgeier, RB, ATL — Up 4.5 to 126.1, RB53 Overall
- Allen Lazard, WR, GB — Up 4.4 to 113.1, WR45 Overall
- James Cook, RB, BUF — Up 4.3 to 96.2, RB40 Overall
- Isaiah Spiller, RB, LAC — Up 3.9 to 122.2, RB51 Overall
We have a bunch of rookie running backs rising up draftboards right now. As long as they are competent in pass protection, all four of these rookies should have large roles this season.
Rachaad White should be the change of pace and receiving RB in the Buccaneers backfield. Tyler Allgeier should grow into an even split with Cordarrelle Patterson. James Cook is rumored to be handling passing down duties in Buffalo this season. So far, Isaiah Spiller is the only RB not named Austin Ekeler to get reps with the first team, so he is the clear handcuff and backup to Ekeler.
As for Allen Lazard, he is rising in ADP because people are realizing that the Packers actually aren’t going to add another wide receiver. Lazard is the WR1 on Green Bay, and we should his expect his role to grow. He also has a connection with Aaron Rodgers, and Lazard has shown improvisational skills when plays break down, which has always led to meaningful targets from Rodgers. A double-digit touchdown total is in the realm of possibility for Lazard this season. Look for him in your fantasy football draft.
5 Biggest Weekly Fallers | Fantasy Football Draft ADP
After looking at the fantasy football draft data over the past week, these are the top five fallers in the ADP.
- Calvin Ridley, WR, ATL — Down 6.4 to 132.6, WR52 Overall
- Chris Carson, RB, SEA — Down 4.7 to 117.9, RB49 Overall
- Justin Fields, QB, CHI — Down 4.6 to 138.3, QB18 Overall
- Pat Freiermuth, TE, PIT — Down 4.2 to 106.8, TE11 Overall
- Mike Gesicki, TE, MIA — Down 4.1 to 115.9, TE12 Overall
Since there are fewer autopicks now that we are now in fantasy football draft season, there will be fewer selections of inactive players, like Calvin Ridley and Chris Carson. As for Justin Fields, Pat Freiermuth and Mike Gesicki, all three play positions that were getting autodrafted earlier in order to fill starting lineups.
However, Fields has also struggled in camp, leading to his overall value falling. Freiermuth benefited from being among the only true red zone options in Pittsburgh last season, which has led to him being overvalued by some this season. As for Gesicki, coach Mike McDaniel has always coached on offenses that utilize the tight end, so it may be worth it to buy the ADP dip for Mike Gesicki in your upcoming fantasy football draft, especially if he keeps trending in this direction.
