Dynasty Fantasy Football Buy Low, Sell High

For those of you in Dynasty Leagues, this is a great time for speculative moves in anticipation of what the future holds. The idea, much like the stock market, is to buy low and sell high. With that said, we will try to identify players that fit these criteria to get you a jump on your 2021 dynasty fantasy football league championship run.

    Dynasty Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

    Buy: Joe Burrow, Bengals

Joe Burrow’s season ended abruptly when he tore his ACL and MCL against Washington. He looks to be on track to return for the start of the 2021 regular season and, coming off his injury, his stock has dipped. This presents a great opportunity to buy low on the 24-year-old number one pick from a year ago. The future is bright for Burrow. Look for the Bengals to invest this offseason in offensive line help protect their franchise QB. Trade for him now and you have a QB1 for the next 8-10 years.

    Sell: Jared Goff, Lions

With his trade to the Detroit Lions, Jared Goff is leaving arguably one of the best situations in the league, with Sean McVay calling the plays and two very good WRs in Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. Now, with a move to Detroit and a team that will have a brand new receiving corps and an all new coaching staff, I am skeptical that Goff is anything more than a depth QB this season. Look to move him if you can get anything in return.

    Dynasty Fantasy Football Running Backs

    Buy: A.J. DIllon, Packers

With Jamaal Williams gone, there is a very real probability that A.J. Dillon will be in line for a 50-50 split in the Green Bay Packers backfield going forward. Dillon was drafted in the second round for a reason, and he flashed his upside when he got the opportunity in Week 16, with 21 carries for 124 yards and two TDs in a game where he took over lead back duties due to injuries. This is a buy low for an RB2, at least next year.

    Sell: Chris Carson, Seahawks

As a 27 year old running back who had broken a leg in 2017, broken a hip in 2019 and sprained his foot last year, Chris Carson could lose a bit of value due to his injury history. Based upon his age, durability and potential other running backs to join Seattle, Carson could dip below consistent RB2 value.

While Carson’s stock is falling, this is a great opportunity to invest in a “Penny” stock. Rashaad Penny can be had for cheap right now and was a first-round pick in 2018, but has dealt with injuries of his own. If you can get him for cheap, he offers a huge upside for a bargain basement price.

    Dynasty Fantasy Football Wide Receivers

    Buy: Darnell Mooney, Bears

With Anthony Miller probably on his way out of Chicago this offseason, this is a great opportunity to buy Darnell Mooney, who could see an even larger role opposite of Allen Robinson. As a late round draft pick, Mooney caught 61-of-98 targets for 631 yards and four TDs. He really asserted himself down the stretch. This is the perfect time to see if you can trade for him on the cheap, capitalizing on the negative press around Andy Dalton.

    Sell: Tyler Lockett, Seahawks

In 2020, Tyler Lockett had 36 catches for 390 yards and eight TDs in three games, for an average of 41 fppg (fantasy points per game in PPR), with one being in Week 17 when the fantasy playoffs were already decided. Unfortunately, in the other 14 weeks, he had 64 catches for 684 yards and two TDs, good for only 10.3 fppg. This is a run-first team and D.K. Metcalf is emerging on the other side of the field as an alpha WR, making this the perfect time to trade Lockett as WR2 instead of the high variance WR3 that he is.
