Dynasty Fantasy Football: Buy Low, Sell High QBs

With the trade market in full swing and the NFL Draft around the corner, this is a great time for speculative dynasty fantasy football moves in anticipation of what the future holds. The idea, much like cryptocurrency, real estate or the stock market, is to buy low and sell high.

Here are a couple of dynasty fantasy football QBs to consider trading for or away to maximize your return on investment.

Dynasty Fantasy Football: Buy Low, Sell High QBs

Buy Low: Russell Wilson, Broncos

Last year, Russell Wilson finished the season outside of QB1 range for the first time in his career, as he missed four games with a finger injury — the first games he has missed in his 10 years in the league. However, on a per game basis, he was right there at QB13, averaging 17.2 fantasy points per game (fppg), and that includes his first couple of games back from his injury when he put up 7.6 and 8.5 fantasy points.

With the trade to Denver, Wilson will now be the focal point of a more up-tempo, pass-heavy offense that has talented young options aplenty in WRs Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick, TE Albert Okwuegbunham, and RB Javonte Williams. Even at 33, Russell Wilson is in a position to put up some of the best numbers of his career with Nathaniel Hackett as his new head coach and the explosive options that he has at his disposal.

This looks like a great time to make a move on Wilson in fantasy if you need a QB on the cheap side, as he sets up well to return to at least QB1 status as a floor with a top-five ceiling.

Sell High: Aaron Rodgers, Packers

The reigning MVP for back-to-back seasons and QB7 for the season last year, QB6 on a per game basis averaging 21.47 fppg, lost his favorite target Davante Adams this offseason. Adams finished last season with 169 targets averaging 10.6 per game for a target share of 28.9% in the 15 games that he and Aaron Rodgers played together. This is a big loss and, with Marquez Valdes-Scantling also leaving, the top three WRs for the Packers are Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Malik Taylor.

While the Packers will almost assuredly address the WR position in the draft, they currently are set up well in the backfield with the duo of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon, a top-10 offensive line and an improving defense. This is a team that may not need to pass as much this season. Over the past three seasons, the Packers have trended towards, becoming a much more balanced offense. While Rodgers has excelled in this style, he has done so largely on his efficiency. Taking away his top two weapons will almost assuredly affect his ability to do so and this would be a good time to sell now while he is still the 38-year-old reigning MVP and you can get top dollar.
