Los Angeles Dodgers Preview

The Dodgers have played impeccable baseball when facing postseason elimination before. Thursday evening’s NLCS Game 5 was no different. After winning the one-game wild-card matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals and the winner-take-all NLDS Game 5 over the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers dominated Atlanta with their backs against the wall. Chris Taylor went off at the plate, belting three home runs off of three different Braves pitchers. He drove in six of the Dodgers’ 11 runs in the blowout victory. Four more RBIs came courtesy of A.J. Pollack, who continued his impressive postseason with two homers of his own. It’s been interesting to see the bottom of the L.A. lineup do the majority of the damage throughout this MLB betting series.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts through bettors yet another wrinkle as far as pitching goes. While popular belief all along was that Max Scherzer would start Game 6 tonight, Roberts has instead opted to go with fellow right-hander Walker Buehler on just three days’ rest. Given how effective the bullpen has been thus far, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Buehler’s pitch count limited and the relievers carry the second half of tonight’s contest. While he had a fantastic regular season, Buehler did get roughed up by the Braves in Game 3 of this NLCS. He surrendered four runs on six hits and failed to make it through four full innings.

Atlanta Braves Preview

Just like last year, the Braves built a 3-1 NLCS lead over the Dodgers. After getting stomped in Game 5, the murmurs have already begun about a potential collapse for the second straight season. Regardless of the media chatter, Freddie Freeman and the Braves don’t seem to be worried. Freeman commented that being up three games to two and going home for both Games 6 and 7 is a pretty good position to be in. He certainly isn’t wrong. If he can continue swinging the bat like he did out west, Atlanta will really like their chances. Freeman’s first-inning homer in Game 5 accounted for all of the Braves’ runs in the ugly loss.

Right-hander Ian Anderson will be on the bump for the Braves in tonight’s MLB betting Game 6 matchup. While he only lasted three innings in Game 2 of this NLCS, Anderson didn’t pitch all that bad. A home run accounted for both runs the Dodgers scored against him. Anderson also pitched well in his lone NLDS start, hurling five shutout innings against the Milwaukee Brewers. One positive takeaway from the Game 5 blowout loss was that Brian Snitker did not have to call upon any of his top relievers late in the game. Thus, Tyler Matzek, Luke Jackson and closer Will Smith all enter tonight’s potential close-out game with two full days of rest.
