It was a relatively tame NFL Free Agency, but all 32 teams now have their attention directed toward the 2023 NFL Draft in order to add talent to their rosters. The first round of the draft is kicking off on Thursday, April 27th. Of course, draft analysis, projections and rumors will be dominating the NFL news until then. Among the players expected to hear his name called early on is Darnell Wright out of Tennessee.
The following is a complete Darnell Wright NFL Draft profile, including college highlights and a mock projection.
As always, the 2023 NFL Draft will be a three-day event. The first day will feature the first round of players, which is only 31 this season. All of these picks will be broken down here at FlurrySports. Day 2 will be Rounds 2-3 and Day 3 features Rounds 4-7.
The 2023 NFL Draft will take place from April 27-29 in Kansas City, MO. The Darnell Wright draft projection expects him to hear his name called early on.
Darnell Wright
Position: OL
Height: 6’5″
Weight: 333
Age: 21
College: Tennessee Volunteers
Darnell Wright is a big-bodied bulldozer. Run-heavy teams will likely drool over the possibilities Wright could their team. He started at right tackle last season and left tackle the year prior. His footwork greatly improved last season, showing his coachability. Wright rose to the occasion and played very well against Will Anderson Jr., which proves he could play tackle in the NFL.
While Anderson has shown the ability to play tackle at the next level, he has shown much more tape that suggests he would be better at guard. He needs to work on hand placement, his bend isn’t great and got tricked on stunts a bit too often. If Wright starts at tackle for someone, he will need a teammate to help in pass protection.
All 2023 NFL Draft Projections are taken from the latest CBS NFL Mock Draft by Ryan Wilson.
Darnell Wright is currently projected to be drafted by the New England Patriots at No. 14.
