What to Expect From Micah Parsons in 2021
When Patrick Surtain and Jaycee Horn came off the board, the Cowboys decided to move down in the draft, even trading with their rivals, the Eagles, to do so. Obviously, their lack of talent at the corner position was their biggest need. Defense in general has been an issue for the Cowboys for over a decade now and they hope Parsons can help solidify their defense.
While Parsons is a fantastic player, it’s tough to see how this pick makes sense. Yes, Parsons is an absolute beast, but Dallas already has two outstanding linebackers in Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith. Outside of cornerback, defensive line is also of concern as well. This pick tells Cowboys fans that they will likely either be using one or more linebackers to rush the quarterback, or will be blitzing more. With this defensive line and secondary, they need Micah Parsons and these linebackers to find the quarterback and fast.
