Strengths

Cole Anthony’s biggest strength is his ability to play bigger than he actually is. Anthony consistently drove the lane and finished through contact. Without contact, Anthony threw down some ferocious dunks. Anthony is able to shoot well from mid range and the three-point line. He is also able to adjust his shot in the air and finish shots off balance. The guard has the ability to run the pick and roll well and often finds the open guy in transition. Running in transition and his ability to make pull up jumpers prove that he is capable of being a volume scorer in the NBA. Anthony could be a candidate to lead the league in steals, as he has very quick hands, resulting in a lot of tips, deflections and disruptions.

Weaknesses

Anthony can sometimes become a “black hole,” as the ball can stop in his hands due to over-dribbling. His shot selection can improve, as he took many difficult shots at North Carolina. Anthony may have difficulty being put into pick and roll situations on defense, due to his 6-1 frame. He also has a funky jump shot that may need some improvement to shoot off the dribble.

NBA Draft 2020 Prediction

New Orleans Pelicans (No. 13)

Cole Anthony should be a great sixth man for a playoff-bound team in the back-end of the lottery. The Pelicans seem like a good fit for Anthony, as he will be able to run the second team offense. Anthony’s ability to score at a high volume will be perfect for stretches when Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram need a rest. Being a complimentary piece to Josh Hart off of the bench will work wonders for Anthony, as he won’t have to be relied upon to take and make difficult jump shots. Anthony has the ability to give the Pelicans a push to make a playoff run next year.
