The Clemson Tigers are one of the more underrated teams in the country this season. In the regular season, they took down UAB, Boise State, Alabama, South Carolina, TCU and North Carolina. All of those teams are currently in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are led by senior forward P.J. Hall. He averages 18.8 PPG and is pretty much unstoppable in the paint. Outside of the paint though, Clemson can get hot from the outside. Hall shoots 32% from the three-point line and Syracuse transfer Joe Girard shoots 42.5% from the three-point line.
It seems like the New Mexico Lobos are getting a lot of love right now and for good reason. They won the Mountain West Tournament where their closest game was a 10-point win against Boise State. The Lobos excel on the offensive side of the ball, making 29.9 shots per game (10th in the country). They take most of those shots inside the arc, as the Lobos lead the country in two-point attempts at 45.5 per game. Jaelen House leads the Lobos in scoring, scoring 16.1 PPG on 37.7% from the field.
I am going to guess that this is going to be a big upset pick for a lot of people in the tournament. While New Mexico is certainly the hotter of the two teams, Clemson does have the best player in this game in Hall. He has produced big-time in big games, especially against North Carolina, which makes me like them a little more in this one.
