Even though the 2021 NBA Finals are in full swing, the NBA Draft is quickly approaching. The Chicago Bulls need to focus on navigating free agency if they are to continue their rebuild. Avoiding NBA purgatory is no small task, but the Bulls may be facing something even worse if they blow it this offseason.
The following is a complete look at the Chicago Bulls needs, as we approach the 2021 NBA Draft and Free Agency.
Chicago Bulls Team Needs
Bulls Free Agents
Here is a list of the players who are upcoming Chicago Bulls free agents that will either need to be re-signed or replaced.
- Devon Dotson, PG (RFA)
- Ryan Arcidiacono, G (Team Option)
- Javonte Green, G (RFA)
- Adam Mokoka, SG (RFA)
- Garett Temple, SG
- Lauri Markkanen, SF (RFA)
- Denzel Valentine, F
- Daniel Theis, C
The Bulls do not have much going for them in the 2021 NBA Draft. So, they will need to be creative in free agency and decide who to keep and who to let go. The only player the Bulls absolutely need to re-sign is Lauri Makkanen. Depending on the price, Daniel Theis and Denzel Valentine could be re-signed. Ultimately, the Chicago Bulls need to prove to Zach LaVine they are serious about building a competitive roster soon or risk losing LaVine next year in free agency.

Second round, 38th overall
Bulls Draft Targets
With 38th overall pick in the NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls would be wise to target Villanova’s Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. He has a strong post game and is capable of both overpowering and finesse moves. Robinson-Earl also added a solid mid-range jump shot last season. He lacks the athleticism and motor to be a true rim protector, but perhaps exposure to NBA trainers and practices could help him develop in this area.
