Following a forced, early bye week, many figured the Pittsburgh Steelers would come out firing in their Week 5 matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles. They weren’t wrong, but nobody came out hotter than their rookie wide receiver. Following his monster performance, many will be wanting Chase Claypool for fantasy football.

Chase Claypool Fantasy Outlook

Entering Week 5, Claypool has had glimpses of fantasy relevance. He totaled six receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown in three games. However, NFL Week 5 of the 2020 season will be marked as the official breakout day for the second-round rookie receiver.

Claypool pulled off the haul, scoring four touchdowns in the game. Three of these were through the air, but he also took a goal line carry in for a score. He became the first Steelers rookie to have a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game since Franco Harris. Claypool is the only Steelers rookie to ever score four touchdowns, and the first player to score four touchdowns since 1968.

Along with the touchdowns, Claypool added seven receptions for 110 yards, while running for another six yards.

If Diontae Johnson is going to continue getting beat up, Claypool could carve out a consistent role in this offense sooner rather than later, which is great news for Chase Claypool fantasy owners, but bad news for the rest of the AFC.
