Among the seven games scheduled for Tuesday night in the NBA is an intra-conference battle between postseason contenders. The Boston Celtics will continue their west coast road trip in the Pacific Northwest against the Portland Trail Blazers. Both teams are right in the thick of their respective conference races. The NBA betting oddsmakers have found it difficult to declare either side the favorite in this matchup.

Celtics vs Trail Blazers NBA Betting Overview
Celtics Outlook
The Celtics ride a three-game winning streak into tonight’s NBA betting showdown in Portland. Most recently, Boston dismantled the Denver Nuggets in an impressive 18-point road win. Tonight marks the second of four games out west for the Celtics on this trip. Brad Stevens’ club seems to have figured some things out, particularly on the defensive end. While they rank as a top-10 scoring defense on the season, Boston has held five of their last six opponents below 110 points.
Both Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown showed out against Denver on Sunday. The Celtics will need both players to consistently be their go-to scorers if they are to make a run into and through the Eastern Conference playoffs. Center Robert Williams continues to make good on his increased minutes down low as well. Two blocks in each of the last three games have him averaging 1.5 per contest entering tonight.
Celtics Injury Report
- Out: Evan Fournier (virus)
Trail Blazers Outlook
The Trail Blazers come into this matchup having lost three of their last four games. The most recent defeat came on their home floor at the hands of the Miami Heat. Despite this mini-slump, the team remains sixth in the Western Conference standings. Portland will aim to rebound as the slimmest of NBA betting favorites tonight.
Correlating with the Blazxers’ recent win-loss struggles are the shooting struggles of Damian Lillard. He will look to get back on track after an uncharacteristic 3-10 from the floor on Sunday. While he may no longer be in a Toronto Raptors uniform, Norman Powell has continued the best season of his NBA career. A 17-point performance on Sunday tied CJ McCollum for the team-high in scoring. Powell looks to be a great trade deadline acquisition and should only boost their chances of contending in the Western Conference this season.
Trail Blazers Injury Report
- Out: Zach Collins (ankle)

Celtics vs Trail Blazers Prop Bet
All-Star Damian Lillard hasn’t exactly been shooting the lights out of late. In fact, some of his recent performances have been downright uncharacteristic based on Lillard’s standards. This includes a 12-point showing in Portland’s last game against the Miami Heat. Lillard made just three of his ten shots that game. A bounceback performance seems inevitable tonight, even as he goes up against the top-10 scoring defense of the Celtics.
Thanks to his recent shooting woes, tonight’s NBA betting prop line is over three points lower than Lillard’s per-game average of 28.7 on the season. Of course, part of that can be attributed to the absence of CJ McCollum. He and trade deadline acquisition Norman Powell form a solid scoring tandem behind Lillard in the lineup. Against Boston tonight, however, the Trail Blazers will need their superstar at his best. After coming up short of 20 points in three of the last five games, Dame Time is approaching tonight.
