Tuesday’s NHL slate kicks off with a Canadiens vs Panthers game that features the top and bottom seeds in the Atlantic Division. Heavy underdogs have not faired well in recent days, and the Canadiens could very well be added to that list of blowouts.
These teams have only played twice so far, with the Panthers having won both meetings. Hopes are not high for fans of the Canadiens as they take their league-worst 8-18-7 road record to the sunshine state to face the juggernaut that is Florida.
Let’s take a look at the NHL betting odds, trends and picks for the game and give our Canadiens vs Panthers prediction.
Canadiens vs Panthers NHL Betting Preview and Prediction
NHL Regular Season
Montreal Canadiens (18-37-11, 8-18-7 Away) vs. Florida Panthers (44-15-6, 26-6-0 Home)
Date: Tuesday, March 29, 2022
Time: 7:00 p.m. EST
Venue: FLA Live Arena – Newark, NJ
Coverage: ESPN+
Goaltending: MTL: Jake Allen (3.09/.908 – Expected) | FLA: Sergei Bobrovsky (2.57/.916 – Expected)
This is the second Canadiens vs Panthers matchup in just five days. While the Canadiens only lost by a single goal last Thursday and have been keeping games close for most of March, the Florida Panthers have everything going for them in this game.
These stats just do not get further apart. Montreal is dead last in goals scored this season, and second to last in goals allowed. The Panthers, on the other hand, lead the NHL in goals scored and are just outside the top-10 in goals allowed. The same is true for shots on goal. Bobrovsky has been huge for the Panthers this season, as the former Veznia Trophy winner has lost just six times in 40 starts. His counterpart for the evening is Jake Allen, who recently won two games, but suffered a nine-game losing streak spanning over two months in length from November to January.
There is not one thing that could convince us to put our money on the Canadiens tonight.

Canadiens vs Panthers Prediction
Things certainly could get ugly as we move through the back half of this game, but the Panthers should take control early. We expect a ton of scoring from Florida, as well as a tough defensive showing. The Panthers have not played an overtime period on home ice yet this season, and it is very doubtful the Canadiens will be the team to buck that trend. Take the Panthers any way you can get them. This one starts with a lead after the first period and ends as a big win in regulation.
If you like this game for a parlay add-on, look into taking the Panthers in regulation opposed to the full game money line. Odds drop from -400 to -230.
Our NHL betting Canadiens vs Panthers prediction tonight will be Panthers -2 at BetUS.
For what it’s worth, numberFire gives the Panthers a 73.9% chance to win.
