News broke Saturday morning that New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton was placed on the NFL’s COVID list. Soon after, the Patriots vs Kansas City Chiefs game, one of the most exciting games of NFL Week 4, has been postponed to a later date.

Cam Newton COVID News

This has been a very different looking Patriots team this season, with Newton operating as the team’s signal caller. He has led them to a 2-1 record, while racking up 714 yards through the air and 149 more on the ground. As of writing, he is the only player on the team to be placed on the COVID list, though there will be plenty of testing over the next several days. Being the team’s starting quarterback, Newton has been in close proximity to many teammates and staff.

On the other side of this game, Chiefs backup quarterback, Jordan Ta’amu, has also tested positive for COVID-19. Again, he is the only player on the team publicly determined to have the virus thus far, but additional testing is coming.

NFL COVID News

The Patriots vs Chiefs game was expected to be one of the best of the weekend, so it’s disappointing to see it postponed. This also is not the only NFL COVID news this week, after the Tennessee Titans vs Pittsburgh Steelers game has also been postponed, due to a COVID outbreak in the Titans’ locker room.

The NFL world holds its breath, heading into the weekend. We hope there is no new NFL COVID news coming, though we know there is more on the horizon. Newton is the highest profile player to currently have it, and we hope there isn’t someone who beats this out.
