It’s been a long road for Calvin Ridley fantasy football owners, if you play dynasty, but he’s finally back on the field and ready to start Week 1 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ridley hasn’t played in a regular season game since Week 7 of the 2021 season, when he stepped away from the Atlanta Falcons for mental health reasons. Then, he was then suspended for the entire 2022 season due to gambling.

Despite the long break for the talented pass-catcher, the Calvin Ridley fantasy football value for Week 1 of the season is high. Let’s take a look at why.

Calvin Ridley’s Fantasy Football Value Skyrockets in Week 1

After being traded to the Jaguars at the NFL Trade Deadline last year, Calvin Ridley is looking to pick up where he left off in 2020. In his first four games of that season, Ridley averaged 6 receptions, 56 yards and 14.2 PPR points per game. That would rank him as the fantasy football WR22 in that four-week span.

The main reason Calvin Ridley is a monster PPR start this week is he is looking to maintain his current 12-game streak of scoring 10 or more points in PPR scoring. In seven of those games, Ridley scored more than 15 points. While he might show some rust, he has proven to be consistent. To make things even better, the Jaguars match up against the Colts this week. The Colts, in the last five weeks of the season, allowed the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers. In three of those five weeks, the Colts allowed a wide receiver to score 20 or more points.

I would start Calvin Ridley with all sorts of confidence in Week 1. You have a PPR monster facing a team that definitely struggled at the end of the season against wide receivers. It all equals out to Ridley being primed for a big game. Hopefully, he help you start your season off strong with a win, and you can be proud for drafting him.
