Looking for a podcast that covers all things from the world of motorsports? Whether youā€™re a fan of NASCAR, IndyCar, or both, Burnt Rubber Racing is the show for you! We are taking the checkered as a top-shelf NASCAR podcast that is presented by FlurrySports!

Burnt Rubber Racing Episode 9 Overview

Episode 9 is a loaded one as we recap yet another short-track win for Martin Truex Jr. Martinsville Speedway is truly becoming ā€œMartinā€™s Villeā€. The race was filled with cautions, including three caused by Cody Ware alone! Yes, of course, weā€™ve got Cody Ware jokes, this isnā€™t your run-of-the-mill NASCAR podcast! We even have a legitimate idea for a prop bet after this one-of-a-kind performance.

We then touch on Josh Berryā€™s win in the Martinsville Xfinity Series race, as well as the post-race brawl between Gray Gaulding and Joe Graf Jr. After the news and notes segment, itā€™s on to the opposite end of Virginia for our preview of this weekendā€™s NASCAR action at Richmond Raceway. NASCAR DFS and betting picks for race winner and props are included! We wrap things up with a quick look at the 2021 IndyCar season opener at Barber Motorsports Park. Stay tuned for next weekā€™s show to find out if IndyCar can win the ratings battle over NASCAR on Sunday afternoon!

IndyCar Set to Begin 2021 Season this Weekend

While Burnt Rubber Racing has been solely a NASCAR podcast (and whatever that was on the dirt at Bristol) up until this point, weā€™ve officially expanded our horizons. The 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season will finally get underway on Sunday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama. The Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama will take place at Barber Motorsports Park. It marks the first of 17 total races that the premier American open-wheel series will run this year.

Given that IndyCar will run live practice and qualifying on Saturday afternoon, betting odds for this weekendā€™s season-opener were not posted at the time of recording Episode 9 of Brunt Rubber Racing. Nonetheless, we touch on a handful of IndyCar talking points. Among them is the interesting decision to run their first race of the season at the same time as the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday afternoon. Both races will be on major TV networks. NASCAR will start around 3 p.m. EST on FOX with IndyCar taking the green flag roughly 45 minutes later. Needless to say, weā€™re intrigued to see how the races compare to one another in the ratings this weekend.

The other major IndyCar storyline ahead of the first race of the season is former NASCAR great Jimmie Johnson taking on a new challenge in the open-wheel circuit. Johnson will run the road courses in the No. 48 Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing this season. Former Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan, who will drive the car on the oval tracks. So, yes, we are expanding beyond the stock car world in this weekā€™s show. But even the two most notable IndyCar talking points for this week do well by our original branding as a NASCAR podcast. Nonetheless, we are excited to include some open-wheel coverage on the show throughout the 2021 IndyCar season!
