The 2022 NBA Draft is set to take place on Thursday, June 23rd. Following the results of the NBA Draft Lottery, we now have a full picture of this year’s order of picks. There are plenty of quality prospects in this year’s NBA Draft class. Among the players that are expected to hear their name called in the First Round this year is guard Bryce McGowens out of Nebraska. The following is a complete Bryce McGowens draft profile including stats, highlights and an NBA Mock Draft projection.
Bryce McGowens NBA Draft Profile, Stats, Highlights and Projection
Bryce McGowens has as much upside as any prospect with a late-First Round grade. This is largely thanks to his dynamic abilities as a scorer. His ball-handling arsenal includes the ability to stop and go on a dime. He fooled countless defenders in college with his savvy hesitation maneuvers. More often than not, McGowens parlays his crisp handles into strong finishes at the rim. He has the size and strength to finish through contact and is excellent at drawing fouls. He did show flashes of playmaking ability with a handful of impressive feeds off the dribble in college as well. Defensively, McGowens certainly has the length to hold his own at the NBA level.
Weaknesses
For McGowens to truly blossom and reach his full potential as a scorer, he will need to develop and hone his jump shot. He shot less than 30% from beyond the three-point arc overall and barely 30% on catch-and-shoot triples. If he develops an outside shot, McGowens could very well become a go-to scorer for some lucky NBA franchise. From a playmaking standpoint, he will need to develop a better awareness of where teammates are on the floor. A tendency to force contested jumpers in college won’t get him anywhere at the next level. McGowens will also need to utilize his physical attributes better defensively. Not only does he lack technique, but he did not show much desire at that end of the floor in his lone season of college ball.
