Browns’ Acting Head Coach is a Massive Homophobe

In a world where cancel culture has run rampant, one individual has been completely unaffected by past actions. That individual is Cleveland Browns special teams coordinator Mike Priefer. He is the acting head coach for the Browns’ playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, due to Kevin Stefanski getting COVID-19.

While Stefanski believes Priefer is the man for the job on Sunday, one could ask if he deserves any type of job in the NFL. It’s well known that he is a massive homophobe, and his past comments on the gay community were downright disturbing.

Homophobic Comments by Mike Priefer

Before joining the Browns coaching staff as the special teams coordinator in 2019, Priefer held the same position with the Minnesota Vikings from 2011-18. It was back in 2014 that former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe published an article on Deadspin. It was entitled, “I was an NFL player until I was fired by two cowards and a bigot.”

Priefer was critical of Kluwe’s support of same sex marriage and overall equality of the gay community. It was at that time he told Kluwe:

“We should round up all the gays, send them to an island, and then nuke it until it glows.”

Of course, Priefer then had to issue an apology and was suspended a whopping 6-8 games, as if a Vikings special teams coordinator’s absence meant anything. It sure didn’t during Blair Walsh’s terrific game in the NFC Wild Card round.

Between the homophobe, the running back that kicks women and the defensive end that tries to bash opposing players’ heads in, the Browns are fielding a group of winners on Sunday night. Of course, JuJu Smith-Schuster’s annoying dancing will be the larger topic of conversation, though.
