We’ve seen a pattern develop over the last week in the NHL and fully expect Blackhawks vs Lightning to follow suit. Bad teams have not just been losing, but getting destroyed in the week following the NHL trade deadline.
At this point of the season, the NHL’s best teams are starting to reengage and lock in their momentum into the playoffs. The teams such as the Blackhawks, who have known their season is over for months already, simply do not have the skill or willpower to travel to a place like Tampa Bay and put a competitive hockey game on the ice. The Lightning play six of their next seven on home ice and are expected to take care of business against the likes of Chicago, Montreal, Buffalo and Anaheim along the way.
Let’s take a look at the NHL betting odds, trends and picks for the game and give our Blackhawks vs Lightning prediction.

There may be no bigger goaltending gap in history than the one we are about to see in Blackhawks vs Lightning tonight. Collin Delia has been the last resort fill-in man in Chicago for a few years now. He has been with the team since 2017 but has started just 23 games, 16 of which came in the 2018-19 season. He has not been reliable in his few appearances either, which is evident by never posting a sub 3.50 GAA in any season.
To have Collin Delia in net against the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions is to essentially wave the white flag. Tampa Bay has been searching for a spark offensively and the Blackhawks might just be delivering it on a silver platter. The last time we saw Blackhawks vs Lightning was in Chicago at the beginning of March. The Lightning lit the lamp six times against the great Marc-Andre Fleury. One can only imagine what they will do to Delia.
Tampa Bay will also enter this game on three days rest, while the Blackhawks still lick their wounds from a mauling at the hands of the Panthers last night in their 4-0 loss.

Blackhawks vs Lightning Prediction
The Lightning will not mess around in this game. The Blackhawks are on the second night of an incredibly hard back-to-back. Only the lack of travel keeps this from being classified as the toughest two-night stretch in the NHL.
The juice is heavy for the Lightning, but every drop is worth the squeeze. The Blackhawks will likely do nothing on offense this game, so we won’t even need a lights-out performance from Tampa Bay in order to cash these tickets. However, offensive dominance is what we expect anyway.
The Lightning will win this game by double-digits, in regulation, while allowing one or fewer goals. This may even be a game where you bet on Vasilevskiy to have a shutout. In the last four seasons, he has averaged six per year. He is due, as this would be just his third of the season and first since earning back-to-back goose eggs on Nov. 23 and 26.
Our NHL betting Blackhawks vs Lightning prediction tonight will be Lightning TT Over 3.5 at BetUS.
For what it’s worth, numberFire gives the Lightning an 80.1% chance to win.
