Another NFL Sunday is officially in the books, and once again the fantasy football scene proved to be rather chaotic. While there were several players who stood out with top fantasy performances, Week 4 also produced its fair share of disappointments. Hopefully, your teams weren’t hurt too badly by the numerous stars who turned in fantasy duds on Sunday.

The following article looks at some of the biggest fantasy football disappointments from Week 4 of the NFL season across each position. This week’s notable fantasy disappointments include Dalvin Cook, Myles Gaskin, CeeDee Lamb and Travis Kelce.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Disappointments | RBs

Dalvin Cook | Minnesota Vikings

Stat Line: 9 carries, 34 yards; 2 receptions, 10 yards
PPR Fantasy Points: 6.4 (RB46)

After missing the Vikings’ game last week altogether with an injury, Dalvin Cook returned to the lineup on Sunday. Unfortunately, he failed to produce for fantasy football managers in his return. Cook sustained yet another lower-body injury during Minnesota’s Week 4 contest against the Cleveland Browns. While he did manage to return to the game, he was about as ineffective as the Vikings’ entire offense. Cook was held to just 34 yards rushing on nine carries and a pair of receptions for 10 yards. A finish of RB46 on the week is a far cry from his 1.02 ADP. Assuming this latest injury won’t hinder him going forward, look for Cook to reclaim the workhorse role over Alexander Mattison next week.

Myles Gaskin | Miami Dolphins

Stat Line: 2 carries, 3 yards
PPR Fantasy Points: 0.3 (RB74)

Since their season-opening win on the road in Week 1, the Dolphins have been traveling along a downward trajectory. While the team lost yet again on Sunday, the fantasy football production of running back Myles Gaskin might’ve been the biggest disappointment of all. Gaskin saw just two carries in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, rushing for a total of three yards. He had no involvement in the passing game and finished with less than a single fantasy point on the week. Both Malcolm Brown and Salvon Ahmed factored into Miami’s game plan more than Gaskin in Week 4. This three-headed backfield combined with the Dolphins’ poor offensive line has put a dark cloud over Gaskin’s fantasy outlook going forward.

Chris Carson | Seattle Seahawks

Stat Line: 13 carries, 30 yards; 1 reception, 1 yard
PPR Fantasy Points: 4.1 (RB49)

Fantasy football managers who didn’t tune into Sunday’s NFC West matchup between the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers might’ve assumed Chris Carson left the game early with an injury based on his lack of production. This was not the case. Carson saw a modest 13 carries in Seattle’s Week 4 win and did next to nothing with them. Carson’s 4.1 fantasy points saw him finish as the RB49 on the week, a major disappointment for those owners who started him. Furthermore, he was outproduced by backfield cohort Alex Collins who had 44 yards rushing and a score on ten carries. If Collins is to remain involved going forward, Carson’s fantasy outlook will sink drastically.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Disappointments | WRs

CeeDee Lamb | Dallas Cowboys

Stat Line: 2 receptions, 13 yards
PPR Fantasy Points: 3.3 (WR84)

For the second straight week, Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb was extremely quiet in terms of fantasy football production. With so many mouths to feed in Dallas, perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that even the talented Lamb is having a few duds. Of course, that doesn’t make the managers who drafted the second-year pro feel any better. Lamb was held to just 13 yards on two catches in Sunday’s shootout win over the Carolina Panthers. The fact that 64 total points were scored in the game makes the lack of production all the more puzzling. Lamb had to take a backseat as the Cowboys once again let the offense flow primarily through running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. The emergence of tight end Dalton Schultz in the passing game could further muddy Lamb’s fantasy outlook moving forward.

Tyler Lockett | Seattle Seahawks

Stat Line: 4 receptions, 24 yards
PPR Fantasy Points: 6.4 (WR67)

After popping off in each of the Seahawks’ first two games to begin the year, Tyler Lockett was almost unheard from in Sunday’s win. Much like teammate Chris Carson, it wasn’t due to a lack of touches. Lockett still reeled in four targets but only could muster 24 yards on the afternoon. It was a far cry from his big touchdown receptions in the weeks prior. Lockett is arguably one of the most boom-or-bust wide receivers in fantasy football today. His lack of consistency makes him a risky start and overall own on a weekly basis. The WR2 just two weeks ago, Lockett’s 6.4 fantasy points saw him finish as just the WR67 in Week 4. The Seahawks’ continued emphasis on the run game will continue to impact the fantasy value of all receivers in this offense.

Allen Robinson | Chicago Bears

Stat Line: 3 receptions, 33 yards; 1 carry, 5 yards
PPR Fantasy Points: 6.8 (WR61)

Well, the Bears rebounded from their 47-yard performance a week ago by picking up a win at home over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Unfortunately, star wideout Allen Robinson was not nearly involved enough in Justin Fields’ first career victory to satisfy fantasy managers. Robinson could only manage 63 yards on three catches for 9.3 total fantasy points. That number would’ve been a whole lot worse if not for the substantial yardage gained.

For anyone else who actually watched any of Sunday’s Lions vs Bears contest, correct me if I’m wrong in saying Robinson looked like he didn’t even want to be out there. The lack of enthusiasm he displayed on routes certainly showed up in the box score. Furthermore, it goes down as an opportunity lost given the horrendous Lions’ defense Chicago faced on Sunday. Instead, it was Darnell Mooney making good on the matchup with 125 yards receiving on the day.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Disappointments | TEs

Travis Kelce | Kansas City Chiefs

Stat Line: 4 receptions, 23 yards
PPR Fantasy Points: 6.3 (TE22)

Considering the shootout game that the Chiefs were involved in on Sunday, it’s honestly shocking to see Travis Kelce lingering outside of the top-20 fantasy football tight ends in Week 4. Nonetheless, it was a massive disappointment this week for owners of undoubtedly the top fantasy player at a thin position. The Philadelphia Eagles may have surrendered 42 points to Kansas City, but they held Kelce to just 24 yards receiving on four receptions. Oddly enough, Kelce actually still finished with the second-most catches on the team, behind only Tyreek Hill. No other Chiefs’ pass-catcher had more than two receptions. Considering the massive day Hill had, it seems Kelce just took a backseat this week. By no means should managers panic about his outlook going forward.

T.J. Hockenson | Detroit Lions

Stat Line: 4 receptions, 42 yards
PPR Fantasy Points: 8.2 (TE17)

For the second consecutive week, T.J. Hockenson finds himself landing among the biggest fantasy football disappointments. While his 42 yards on four receptions wasn’t necessarily an awful day, it still saw him finish outside of the top-15 at the TE position. Compared to what expectations were for Hockenson coming into the season, he has been extremely underwhelming over the last two weeks. He is still the TE4 on the overall season at this juncture thanks to a pair of performances exceeding 20 points to begin the year. However, Hockenson may not be the set-it-and-forget-it tight end start many owners thought they were getting back in drafts. Sunday’s game is also notable in that a pair of the Lions’ talented young wideouts, Quintez Cephus and Amon-Ra St. Brown, combined for ten catches and over 150 yards. Their continued involvement on a weekly basis will only hurt Hockenson’s floor.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Disappointments | QB

Tom Brady | Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Stat Line: 22/43 passing, 269 yards; 4 carries, 3 yards
PPR Fantasy Points: 11.06 (QB25)

In all honesty, Tom Brady did not play all that well in his much-anticipated return to Foxborough. We may never know whether it was more about him being nervous, the rainy weather or simply Bill Belichick knowing how to defend his longtime quarterback. What we do know is that Brady never threw a single touchdown pass. As a result, his 269-yard, turnover-free performance only yielded 11.06 points to fantasy football owners. While Brady managed to escape New England with a win, he undoubtedly let numerous fantasy managers down in their Week 4 matchups. Better days are undoubtedly ahead this season for the man they call the GOAT.
