Tonight marks the final slate of NBA games before the league’s annual All-Star break. While the players and coaches are undoubtedly looking forward to some time off, the downer for us bettors is that we won’t have any regular-season games to wager on until next week. Might as well lock in some NBA player props and betting picks while we can, right? Luckily, there are five intriguing matchups to comb through tonight.

Best NBA Betting Player Props for Tonight, 2/17

All NBA betting player props odds are taken from BetOnline Sportsbook

Montrezl Harrell Under 6.5 Rebounds (-118)

Since being acquired by the Charlotte Hornets at the NBA trade deadline, Montrezl Harrell has delivered for his new team. The Hornets were in desperate need of rebounding help and Harrell has gotten minutes right away. Along with scoring in double figures in each of his first three games with Charlotte, Harrell has finished with no less than six boards. The last two contests saw him grab nine and seven rebounds in 29 and 34 minutes, respectively. Unfortunately, he could be in for a tough go of it on the glass tonight in a matchup against the Miami Heat.

In addition to playing suffocating defense, the Heat rank third in Rebound Rate on the season. Miami has successfully corralled 51.9% of available rebounds in games thus far. The fact that the Heat have been that solid on the boards despite being without center Bam Adebayo for a two-month stretch is quite impressive. When one takes into account the fact that Harrell has averaged 6.7 rebounds per game, he would therefore need to exceed his average to clear tonight’s NBA player props threshold. Betting on any player to exceed their typical rebounding production when facing the Heat is not exactly a profitable venture.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Under 31.5 Points (-130)

After dropping 50 points on Tuesday night against Indiana, it’s reasonable to anticipate some bettors having pause when it comes to the idea of betting Giannis Antetokounmpo to finish under tonight’s scoring prop total. Taking that recent performance out of the equation, the under is clearly the preferred side. Antetokounmpo comes in averaging 29.4 points per game on the season. While that is certainly an impressive mark, it is also over two full points below tonight’s NBA player props line of 31.5.

It should be noted that the 76ers average the third-slowest pace of any team. They also rank among the top-10 teams in defensive efficiency allowing less than 107 points per 100 possessions. Thus, Antetokounmpo will be facing multiple obstacles in his bid to score at least 32 points to clear the NBA props total. If the Sixers successfully slow the pace of tonight’s game down, fewer possessions could prove to be the difference. The Bucks are exceptional in transition, but Antetokounmpo may not get those opportunities tonight.

Robert Covington Under 4.5 Rebounds (-110)

Veteran forward Robert Covington has largely been ineffective since joining the Los Angeles Clippers prior to the trade deadline. So ineffective, in fact, that he has only seen 10, 12, 27 and 21 minutes of game action over L.A.’s last four contests. While Covington did surpass tonight’s NBA player props rebounding total of 4.5 with eight boards on Tuesday, it marked only the second time in the last six games that he has done so.

While Covington has averaged 5.7 rebounds per game on the season overall, all signs point towards a steady decline of that number coming now that the 31-year-old is with the Clippers. Along with his lackluster play, there simply isn’t the same need for him in L.A. as there was in Portland. As a result, a player who was averaging right around 30 minutes per game has been relegated to bench minutes. Even in a favorable matchup against the Houston Rockets tonight, it’s worth looking under Covington’s NBA betting prop for total rebounds.
