Best NBA Betting Player Props for Tonight, 3/6

Pascal Siakam Under 5.5 Assists (+110)

Sadly, tonight’s nationally televised showdown between the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers won’t be a true indication of what these teams are capable of. This is largely due to injuries on the Raptors’ side of the equation. In addition to the prolonged absence of OG Anunoby, Toronto has also ruled out star point guard Fred VanVleet as he continues to battle a knee injury. A depleted lineup is far from ideal, particularly in a matchup against Cleveland’s top-5 defense in terms of efficiency. With two key cogs sidelined, big man Pascal Siakam figures to be the focal point of the Raptors’ offense tonight.

Along with VanVleet’s absence, backup point guard Malachi Flynn is also out with a hamstring injury. While ‘Spicy P’ could conceivably handle the basketball more tonight, the other variable to consider for this NBA betting assists prop is who exactly he would be able to dish to. There aren’t a ton of great options left for a Toronto team that utilizes one of the tightest rotations in the NBA as it is. Siakam comes into Sunday averaging only 5.0 assists per contest. Thus, he would need to exceed his usual production by one full helper to clear the NBA player props line of 5.5. The fact that the matchup comes against a stout defensive opponent only adds to the intrigue of the plus-money price.

Will Barton Under 14.5 Points (-124)

Denver Nuggets veteran Will Barton has had a rough go of it shooting the basketball recently. Despite recording double-digit shot attempts in three of the last four games, he has failed to exceed tonight’s NBA player props line of 14.5 points in any of them. Even in a matchup against the atrocious Houston Rockets defense, Barton only managed to score 11 across 29 minutes of action. On the season he has averaged 14.9 points per contest. Recently, however, Barton is consistently falling short of that line. On top of this, Sunday evening will see the Nuggets run into the buzzsaw that is the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Pels have won each of their four games since the All-Star break with defense being a massive component of their run. One of the worst defensive teams in the NBA earlier in the season, the Pelicans are now hanging right around league average in terms of efficiency at No. 18. Each of New Orleans’ last three opponents failed to crack the 100-point threshold. Two of them have notably been more efficient on offense this season than Denver as well. Combine the red-hot opponent with Barton’s shooting woes and we have a solid NBA picks handicap to run with this evening.

Evan Fournier Over 1.5 Assists (-117)

Setting up teammates has never been the focal point of Evan Fournier’s game. However, the New York Knicks shorthanded backcourt has led to an expanded role as a playmaker of late for the 29-year-old. Since the All-Star break, Fournier has finished with multiple assists in three of four games. Dating back to before the break as well, there was an apparent uptick in his assists production. Over the last nine games, Fournier has finished with at least two helpers on seven occasions. It would only take two this evening to top the NBA player props total of 1.5 assists.

On the season overall, Fournier has averaged 1.8 assists per game. Of course, several of the Knicks games in the earlier stages of the year included at least one of Kemba Walker or Derrick Rose playing point guard. The fact that Alec Burks is now starting at point is a clear indication of New York’s predicament at the position. The only time that Fournier failed to finish with multiple assists in the last seven games was also the only game in which he played less than 30 minutes. We’ll look for this recent run to continue by playing the over among tonight’s NBA props.
