With America’s Pastime back for 2025, it’s time to take out the peanuts, the crackerjacks, and the parlays for some of the best bets you should consider for the start of this MLB season. All of the MLB futures bets I’m talking about today will be referencing odds from DraftKings Sportsbook as of Sunday.
For the month of April, there are some great chances to capitalize on early-season momentum, if you’re betting space of choice still has these opportunities up. Remember, while baseball is a long season, it’s a season of streaks. So, finding the teams that are hot at the right time is the key to betting on a team’s success. Of course, these are just one baseball fanatic’s opinions, but hopefully these MLB futures bets earn you some salary cap of your own this baseball season.

First to 10 Wins | MLB Futures Bets
Los Angeles Dodgers (-125)
If this bet is still up, smash this lock for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers had a two-game head start on the league with two wins in Japan against the Cubs before most teams’ Opening Day. As of writing, they sit at five wins and zero losses. They have the same number of games in the next two weeks as anyone in the league, so the odds someone now outpaces them by two games is very low.
If you have the chance, the Dodgers’ race to 10 wins is as good of odds (-125) you’ll hear today.
Cleveland Guardians (+11000)
If not the Dodgers, then get zany with this great odds pick. The Guardians have two wins currently, but the key to this chance is their strength of schedule. Even with a tough Padres series, if they can even get one win there, the chances they have 10 wins by April 15th are really good. They play the last game against the Royals, the Padres and then two bad teams in the White Sox and the Angels, before the Royals again.
While the AL Central can be hard to predict, the Guardians consistently have some of the best starts in MLB and longest win streaks each year. For these odds, it could be an excellent dark horse pick.
Most Wins By End of April (League) | MLB Futures Bets
Los Angeles Dodgers (+110)
See the logic above for betting on the best team in baseball, starting 5-0, with a two-game head start to win this race in the first full month of play. Honestly, if you aren’t going to bet your own team here, it should be the Dodgers or nobody.

Philadelphia Phillies (+1100)
Or, you know, bet on the other World Series favorite. Listen, the only argument against the Phillies is the advantage of the Dodgers for this bet. The Phillies were one of the biggest momentum teams of 2024, where hot play usually spanned weeks at a time. They are starting undefeated and play some of their weaker divisional opponents in the Nationals and Marlins a couple of times in the month. The Dodgers will run into a red-hot Padres team, among other top teams, this month, so if you wanted great odds for one of the other best teams in the league, this could be a great second option.

Most Wins by End of April (Division) | MLB Futures Bets
AL East: Boston Red Sox (+265)
The Boston Red Sox were many people’s surprise picks to win the AL East this year, and I think with these odds, you could pick them to get off to a hot start as well. The Red Sox are my pick mainly because they’re relatively healthy, and they get to play some bad teams this month. They play the White Sox six times, along with the struggling Mariners, and some teams they are projected to outplay this year, in the Blue Jays and Rays.
This is a tougher division, so I’m not in love with this pick, but they definitely have the cleanest path this month in the AL East.
AL Central: Cleveland Guardians (+290)
The Cleveland Guardians somehow only have the third-best odds in their division as of writing. They always play well to start the year, have proven to have streaks of explosive hitting, and have the most depth in the division pitching-wise. While other teams in the AL Central are equally talented, you have to remember that in the first month, you want to look at the teams with the least to develop as well. The Royals, Tigers, and Twins are all figuring things out, the Guardians are set to start the season. This is one of my favorite picks for this category.
AL West: Houston Astros (+230)
The Houston Astros are always a team to watch, and what they have really going for them to start the season is pitching depth and health. The Rangers are too health-dependent to trust, and honestly, the Athletics are starting pretty strong. They and the Rangers play several times this month. Expecting somewhat of a draw between those two teams throughout their series this month, that leaves the Astros and the struggling Mariners and Angels. The weaker end to last season is definitely impacting these odds here and could be a really good team with too low of odds.
NL East: Philadelphia Phillies (+120)
See some of my notes from the Phillies to have the most overall wins this month as to why you should consider betting on this favorite in the NL East. The Mets are still figuring out a pretty new roster, and the Braves are not doing well to start, which means a boring pick in the Phillies is also smart.

NL Central: Chicago Cubs (+550)
This one is more of a gamble, but that’s why you’re here. The Chicago Cubs have the worst odds in the NL Central despite being the odds favorite to win the division, largely thanks to starting 0-2 against the Dodgers. But if you’re going to hold losses to the Dodgers against teams, that’ll be a common occurrence.
The Cubs are a talented team with the longest odds in the biggest crap shoot division, which make them a fun chance to take. By mid-month, I have no doubt these odds will look silly, although other teams could certainly edge them out. But based on odds, the Cubs are a pretty easy pick here.
NL West: Los Angeles Dodgers (-400)
You already know. The MLB odds of the Padres are a fun hedge here at +500 after also starting undefeated, but sometimes favorites are that way for a reason.
I’ll conclude this article by saying that if you want risky winnable MLB futures bets, stay out of the NL West. If you want to make some easy money, bet on perhaps the best baseball team of all time on paper as much as you can to start the season (LA Dodgers).
