With a 134-90 win over the Atlanta Hawks on January 6th, 1972, the Los Angeles Lakers won their 33rd consecutive game. Coming into Wednesday night’s matchup, fans knew they’d be getting a good look at both teams. Tulane basketball started conference play with two upsets, against Memphis at home and Cincinnati on the road. The New York Yankees were bought by a 12-man group, led by George Steinbrenner III and Michael Burke, for $10 million.
