The Philadelphia Eagles have made some late roster moves, most notably waiving former Georgia product Jamie Newman in a surprise move Wednesday. Newman was undrafted, but was seen as a low-risk, possibly high reward flier. In addition, all teams need a third QB and he seemed like a perfect one. No one would demand him to start, and he’s a possible developmental piece (he excelled at Wake Forest and was supposed to be a starter at Georgia) unlike the main backup Joe Flacco. Following the release of Newman, the Eagles opted to replace him with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback…

Barring injury or catastrophe, Jalen Hurts is the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback for the 2021 season. The Eagles didn’t draft a QB and only signed an over-the-hill Joe Flacco to back Hurts up. Philadelphia spent a valuable second-round pick to grab him, so they clearly think he has the potential to be a franchise guy. Has the play he’s shown so far warranted that? Let’s take a look at Jalen Hurts’ 2020 season as the starting quarterback. Jalen Hurts’ Numbers at a Glance The passing numbers as a whole don’t look great — 52% completion percentage, 1,061 yards and a 6:4…

The 2021 NFL Draft has come and gone, and the new future of the team is set. All told, the Philadelphia Eagles grabbed nine players in the draft and signed seven undrafted free agents. They made one trade before the draft, which moved them down from pick six to 12, and then made three trades during the draft, one on each day. It was a busy draft for the Birds, and overall I’d call it a success. Let’s get to the Eagles draft grades. Day 1 Eagles Draft Grades Pick 10: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama Grade: A Wide receiver was a…

The Philadelphia Eagles love to make their NFL Draft trades, and they made another on day two. They moved down three spots in the first round from 70 (it was previously reported that pick 70 was given to the Dallas Cowboys, it has since been made known it was actually pick 84) to 73 and picked up a sixth rounder for their troubles. Let’s take a look at the Eagles draft grades for the second day of the 2021 NFL Draft. A late NFL Draft day trade with a division rival, who would have seen that coming? The Philadelphia Eagles trade their 12th overall pick and a third-rounder (70 overall) for the Dallas Cowboys’ 10th overall selection. It was a small move, and the Birds went up to grab Heisman-winning Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith.  Eagles Trade Ahead of Giants to Draft DeVonta Smith The Eagles effectively only jumped the New York Giants to get Smith, meaning they must’ve had a decent suspicion that the Giants were planning to take him. Considering the Giants moved down right after to select a…

The Philadelphia Eagles are in a weird spot, where they have some elite players, then have some terrible weaknesses. Oddly enough, if Jalen Hurts plays well, the Eagles can’t be counted out of the playoff hunt. A lot of that has to do with how weak their division is, of course, but there are some pockets of strength on this team. Let’s go over these strengths, prior to the 2021 NFL Draft. Eagles Strengths Prior to 2021 NFL Draft Strength 1: Running Back Miles Sanders may not be as good as many Eagles fans seem to think (he’s not a…

The 2021 NFL Draft is quickly approaching and discussion is ramping up. The Philadelphia Eagles made waves by trading down from the No. 6 spot to pick 12, and Howie Roseman is on the hot seat. While he built a great roster in 2017 that went on to win the Super Bowl, he’s come under immense fire recently. The criticism is in no small part thanks to his shaky drafting, especially in the past two years. The recent whiffs have led people to accuse Roseman of being bad at drafting throughout his career. Is that true? Let’s take a look…

The Philadelphia Eagles have many needs coming into the 2021 NFL Draft, which is probably why they traded back for more total assets. However, some spots are more needy than others. Here are the Eagles draft needs and some players they can target in the upcoming draft. The focus is more on the top three rounds, as those high picks are going to have the best chance to produce NFL starters.
