On Saturday, the Missouri Valley Football Conference postponed their first game of the FCS Spring Football slate. There was a positive test in the North Dakota’s tier one personnel. Tier one consists of student-athletes, coaches, equipment managers and staff. Subsequent contact tracing protocols were put into place, and the MVFC made the decision to postpone the game. Not even a week later, the MVFC has made the decision to postpone the mammoth matchup of South Dakota State vs NDSU until April 17th as well. Every Monday, we will be releasing our FCS Spring Football Rankings, with some of the major storylines over the weekend. (1) Weber State kept a loose grip on the top spot, after beating Northern Arizona at home on Saturday. Signal-caller Randall Johnson was incredibly efficient, completing 11-19 passes for three touchdowns. Johnson also tallied 70 yards rushing. In our weekly FCS Spring Football Power Rankings, Weber State stayed at number one, but North Dakota State, Sam Houston State, South Dakota State and even North Dakota are making strong pushes for the top spot. After missing out on one of the greatest sporting events in the world last year the future NBA Draft prospects and schools have given us enough entertainment for this year and last year combined. When you add up the total number of the teams’ seeds this year, it equals 94. That is easily the highest number in NCAA Tournament history. The Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament is finally set and the odds for the upcoming March Madness games are released. Next Saturday, March 27th, we have four games that feature three double-digit-seeded teams. At this point, it’s clear that Oral Roberts is not the worst team left in the tournament. After signing John Johnson III, Takkarist Mckinley and Troy Hill, the Cleveland Browns made another splash in NFL Free Agency. They signed former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Anthony Walker to a one-year deal worth up to $3.5 million. Browns Sign LB Anthony Walker With the Walker signing, the Browns add a veteran presence to their linebacking corps. Walker has started 46-of-48 games for the Colts over the last three seasons. In our weekly FCS Spring Football Power Rankings, Weber State remains in the pole position. The Wildcats beat a good UC Davis team 18-13 last weekend. North Dakota improved on their unbeaten record by easily dispatching Western Illinois 38-21. Nicholls State had a very bad weekend, as they got demolished by Sam Houston State, 71-17. The Colonels drop out of the top ten altogether. Finally, Southern Illinois and South Dakota State joined the top four after close victories over Northern Iowa and Youngstown State respectively.
