The Las Vegas NBA Summer League is no March Madness, but Thursday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns gave a little taste of good old favorite-underdog flair. After trailing by as many as 14 in the second quarter, the Sixers successfully erased the deficit and never relinquished the lead for the entire fourth quarter on their way to an 88-86 win. The win marked Philadelphia’s first for the Summer League and also stands as the Suns only loss thus far. With the lead never eclipsing four points over the final three minutes of action, there was plenty of…

Although the Brooklyn Nets were able to stay within striking distance throughout the duration of Wednesday’s NBA Summer League game thanks to Jarrett Allen, they never saw the lead. Houston had seven players score in double figures, took the lead from the opening tip, and never surrendered it on their way to a 109-102 wire-to-wire victory. The largest lead of the game for the Rockets was 16, but the game felt like a bigger blowout than it actually was. The Rockets outscored Brooklyn in every quarter but the third and really controlled the pace to remain unbeaten in the Las…

Tuesday’s NBA Summer League contest between the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards didn’t prove to be much of a contest after all. The Wizards never trailed, cruising their way to an 87-75 wire-to-wire victory. The 76ers’ inability to make shots to keep up with Washington’s pace doomed them. The Wizards finished with a 41.7% shooting mark from the field, compared to just 35.1% for Philadelphia. The Sixers also took (and missed) a ton of three’s, finishing 6-of-25 from beyond the arc. Chris McCullough played well for Philly, but it just wasn’t enough.  Chris McCullough Leads 76ers After spending last…

NASCAR’s second 2018 visit to Daytona International Speedway provided two nights of nonstop action for race fans to enjoy. Restrictor plate racing bunches up the field in a way that just doesn’t happen at other tracks. With drivers trying to draft their way to the front, it quite often isn’t necessarily the fastest car on the track who prevails. The weekend was filled with big wrecks, mixed strategies, and great finishes in both the Cup and XFINITY races. It was a great way to head into the backstretch of the 2018 NASCAR season.
