When the lights come on, the stars come out. That’s precisely what happen Thursday night when the injury and illness-riddled Green Bay Packers went into Arizona and proceeded to defeat the previously unbeaten Arizona Cardinals, 24-21. Without its top three receivers, top two cornerbacks (on the depth chart anyway), and All-Pro left tackle, very few expected Green Bay to unseat the Cardinals. But what the world forgot, Green Bay has a baaaaad man under center and that guy is out for vengeance. Of course, I’m referring to the reigning NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers. This isn’t the first time the football…

The MLB All-Star Game is in the books, and the unofficial second half of the MLB season is upon us. In a bit of a shock, the Milwaukee Brewers have a commanding four-game lead at the break in the NL Central. While not surprising to many that the Brewers are in contention, it’s the fact that neither the Cardinals nor the Cubs are above .500. It’s well documented that in the first half, Milwaukee’s starting pitching has been nothing short of phenomenal. And since acquiring Willy Adames on May 22nd, the offense is starting to catch up. The question remains…

The old saying in baseball is that you can’t win a World Series in April, but you can lose one. In the infancy of the 162-game marathon that is the 2021 MLB season, the Milwaukee Brewers have already sent three of its best players (Kolten Wong, Lorenzo Cain and 2018 NL MVP Christian Yelich) to the IL, leaving the team and fans in a desperate state. Yet, despite these woes, the Brewers keep winning. How are they doing it? A dominant starting rotation. Milwaukee Brewers’ Dominant Pitching The Big Guns At the top of the rotation, two guys are in…

The month of March is usually one of the best times of the year. College basketball is in tournament mode, NFL Draft hype is in full swing, and of course MLB Spring Training. Yet, in ever turbulent times, the usual reliability that is the spring baseball is missing one long time piece — Milwaukee Brewers mainstay, Ryan Braun. Each team has their legends, and Brewers fans in their mid-to-late twenties have Ryan Braun. For many of us too young to know or remember the days of Molitor, Fingers or Yount, Ryan Braun was the first favorite player for an entire…

If you watched the Green Bay Packers the last few weeks, including Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons, you’ve probably heard the name Robert Tonyan a few times. So, who on earth is this guy catching touchdown after touchdown from MVP candidate Aaron Rodgers? Humble Roots for Robert Tonyan Robert Tonyan Jr. played for FCS powerhouse middle of the road team Indiana State. Initially a quarterback turned wide receiver, Tonyan would set a school record for touchdowns (20) and consecutive games with a catch (21). Tonyan went undrafted despite these numbers, then signed with the Detroit Lions practice squad in…

On Wednesday afternoon, with just under a month until Training Camp is set to begin, it was announced that the NFL Preseason was reduced down to two games. Odds are that this is only the first announcement that will come amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. With that said, the shortened NFL Preseason will benefit some more than others. NFL Preseason Winners New England Patriots More time in practice is never a bad thing for a Bill Belichick-led team. After signing Cam Newton on June 28th, the Patriots now have options at the quarterback position. Jarrett Stidham seemed destined to be the…

The Green Bay Packers have made a few offseason moves and executed an interesting draft, to say the least. However, the Packers did little to address the passing game, which was viewed as one of Green Bay’s biggest weaknesses heading into the offseason. Are there enough talented receivers on this Packer team? Returning Packers Receivers Outside of Davante Adams, the 2019 Packers were relatively sparse at the wideout spot. The emergence of Allen Lazard throughout the season was a welcomed surprise to a group that needed a boost. Jake Kumerow, a fan favorite who is also a favorite of Aaron…

Friday night was the second day of the 2020 NFL Draft, with Rounds 2 and 3 taking place. In the first round, the Green Bay Packers took QB Jordan Love, to very mixed reviews from fans and analysts. How would the Packers’ draft results on the second day fare? Green Bay Packers Draft Results AJ Dillon, RB (Boston College) Second round, 62nd Overall If you thought the Love selection was a head-scratcher, AJ Dillon in Round 2 is really puzzling. Logically speaking, the Packers running back depth chart is pretty set at the top with Aaron Jones. Jamaal Williams has…

There’s an age old phrase with NFL GM’s, “the best time to draft a quarterback is when you don’t need one.” History repeated itself in 2020, as it did in 2005, when the Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love. Despite what GM Brian Gutekunst told the media, they believe Love is the next franchise quarterback, which is why they would trade up to take him while they still have a future Hall of Famer under center. In 2005, it was Aaron Rodgers who slid to into the Packers lap at 24 and, 15 years later, the Packers move up a…
