Antonio Johnson Draft Profile

Strengths

Antonio Johnson will be loved by whoever drafts him thanks to his ability to play multiple roles in an NFL defense. Johnson can play as a box safety as well as a big nickel. He can get off of run blocks relatively quickly and attacks the ball carrier. On pass plays, he runs through the receiver which often causes the ball to be jarred loose. His size should allow him to match up against bigger receivers as well at the NFL level.

Weaknesses

One of the biggest weaknesses for Antonio Johnson is his tackling. He can sometimes overrun the play and is inconsistent at best. In last year’s game against Arkansas, he had a great touchdown-saving tackle, but he also whiffed on two easier plays. His speed doesn’t test well and his strength is questionable. In man coverage, he can often give too much cushion allowing too much space underneath.
