Albany vs New Hampshire Background

New Hampshire: The Wildcats return fourteen starters from a year ago, including seven on offense. Sophomore quarterback Max Brosmer looks to get his second-year campaign started off on the right foot. Brosmer started in 10 games last year. He was 183-311 for 1,967 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was named CAA Football Rookie of the Week twice and won the New England Writers Gold Helmet Award.

Also returning on offense is the team’s second-leading rusher from a year ago, Carlos Washington Jr. In 2019 he rushed the ball 138 times for 601 yards and three touchdowns. To cover the spread the New Hampshire offense needs to put up points, quickly.

Albany: The Great Danes also return a good portion of their starters from a year ago. They return five starters on offense and seven on defense. Redshirt Sophomore Quarterback Jeff Undercuffler returns to put fear into opposing defenses. Undercuffler was named to the Freshman All-American Second-Team. He also was the CAA offensive Rookie of the Year and the post-season CAA Freshman of the year. He set a school record with 262 completions last year to go along with 3,543 and 41 passing touchdowns, which were the most in the FCS. This should be an offensive clash between two great young quarterbacks.

Senior running back Karl Mofor also returns for the Great Danes, who will be a huge help for Undercuffler. He led the CAA with 1,290 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.

Albany vs New Hampshire Prediction

Albany 31, New Hampshire 27: In a high-scoring, fast-paced game, the Great Danes start quickly and are able to hold off a late New Hampshire push. Both quarterbacks pass for over 275 yards, but Undercuffler is the winner with 315 passing yards and three touchdowns.
